my city 04 is giving some noise from engine side. On idle its ok, but on uphill or accelerating it gives a tik tik like noise. where its coming from??
Will capture the sound later.

Are u sure its not knocking? Bad petrol could be reason.

can anyone tell me the best Engine oil for Honda city. my City had done around 78k on ODO, earlier i was using ZIC Yellow one. with 5k Millage. i read a post somewhere in this thread that havoline 10W40 is the best one for City?

i am satisfied with the performance of ZIC but i havnt tried any other so may be havoline would be a good idea..

can anyone expert tell me with personal experiance.?

Am also thinking of it as i have done the tappet setting in the past month. May be they are too tight.

well after failing to find a mint condition city idsi despite my best efforts, i have finally purchased a brand new city ivtec m/t with titan interior today....fortunately it now also comes equipped with a center console with handrest...the interior seems to be somewhat better than before and the suspension seems to be bit softer than the 2010 one....i will post the pics 2morrow...untill then just a teaser

Bro go for 5W40 if ur living in aeeas where 0 degrees celsuis is common like murre, quetta and northern areas. Go for 10W40 if u have milder temperatures.
Companies i prefer are Shell Ultra or Liqui Moly.

Guys in my personal experience Dont change oil if you are satisfied with the previous one.. the reason is that if you keep using one oil & then change the oil type, it can cause harm to the engine & you might experience a drop in oil level specially when the car is cold (during morning times etc). I had the same issues with 2 of my cars that I bought from another user, soon as I changed the oil they started dropping oil levels & while engine was cold(during morning) they also started giving blue smoke.. The workshop from where I get my car's maintained also suggest to everyone who have their engines overhauled to stay with the first oil that was input after engine over hauling was done.. so Verdict is stay with the same oil until unless a complete engine over haul is done

Question: When i start my city 06 in the morning or in the evening after office, i hear a sound of liquid, flowing and splashing. After the engine is warm this sound is not noticeable. Is it the sound of engine oil? is it normal to hear that sound? I thought that i might have filled engine oil beyond upper limit so i drained oil by opening the filter and now the level of oil is a bit lower than the top marker on dip stick.
Further my car takes more than 2 minutes to get warm, i.e the Cold engine light take 2 minutes to go off after cold start, is that normal????????????????????

It cannot be engine oil.

Are you using heater? Sounds like its coming from the cooling system.

I am using heater, but not early after start, when Cool light goes off i switch on the fan. Ok, if it is coming from the cooling system then it must be the coolant/water mixture, is it normal for that? What could be wrong :S, perhaps something wrong with the water pump.
