Honda city IDSI Crank Sensor Problem

Hi Experts,

Need your expert suggestions about my issue,i.e. my honda city idsi 2005's crank sensor is failing after some time period i.e. 2 days or 3 days, I had already changed 3 sensors, for the time being it was woking and then failed after some days, What may be the issue ???

I have a car OBDII scanner, the error is "P0335 - Powertrain, Crank Position sensor A circuit", The engine automatically starts after some time of the shutdown and then off. After changing the crank sensor its again working fine for few days.

Please help

Do you buy kabli sensors?

That car uses hall effect sensor for the crank, did you test the sensor wiring itself? - hall effect type sensor has 3 wires, one positive, one negative and one signal.

The + and - are battery voltage while the signal one is a pull down from the ECU, if the sensor loses + or - it will stop working even if the sensor is brand new. (the plastic plug maybe bad too)

Test the sensor wiring first, then go about inspecting the waveform the sensor produces.

I had test sensor wiring yesterday, no issue was found, The car is running fine from yesterday even after 115 kms without issue, From where I had to test waveform in lahore?

Every brand new sensor is available in market.
Just expensive comparison to kabli.

Dont go to tiny small shop in your neighborhood, you need to buy new sensors from larger markets or Honda showrooms.

Never install cheap cost sensors, always buy genuine brand new or at least a good supplier like mitsubishi, denso, mitsuba, bosch etc.

Hi guys,

There is an update, On Friday I left for my home town to travel approximately 430 KMs, but the engine shutdown just after 3 km of driving

I visit the nearest workshop on canal road where ustad ji scan the car and tell me that there is nothing wrong with the crank sensor we have to do it's general tunning including tappets and injectors etc. No doubt he did a very good job and the car starts after these procedures,

I returned home planning to leave in the morning now,

In the morning when I crank engine the issue was the same i.e. car was starting and then shuts down after 2 to 3 seconds,

Now I plan a DIY.

I have a spare crank sensor that was also creating a problem months before so I changed it and luckily got it from the mechanic,

I install this sensor in the car and amazingly engine starts on the half self and traveled 1000 km approximately till now without any problem,

So the issue is of crank sensor only.

Actually, statements of most mechanics are confusing i.e. "Crank sensor khrab ho to garhi start hi nhn hoti, Ye ya theek hota hai ya khrab", i asked "Bhai meri garhi to kabhi start bhi ho jati hai or kabhi kabhi chal bhi jati hai without any problem"

Dont buy sensors from scrapyards or buy unbranded chinese origin sensors
