Honda City IDSI on Hilly Areas / Pillars

What about honda idsi 2005 or 2006 Manual model drive on hilly areas...
like SWAT or Murree etc ????

1- I heard that it makes some problem speically .... jab uper ja rahay ho....
2- Brakes issue kartay hain...speically city idsi kay neechay atay huay....
2- its Road clearance on hilly and normal...???

3- Pillars
Kafi suna hai...about PILLARS...
Meray doston ka kehna hai kay idsi kay pillar kafi baray hain or aksar car
dikhai naheee daiti.... to accidents ho jatay hain...

these are genuine issues . but mainly if you are borrowing someones car and taking it on a hilly area
since i own the car and i know its pros and cons
i know how to look around corners on hilly areas avoiding its slant pillar
i know how to use a combo of gears and brakes so they dont over heat downhill

I kept this model for 5 years and went to Murree, Bhurbhan, Nathia Gali and "Abottabad via Bhurbhan". Though it's engine is a bit less powered but I drove on last route with 4 passengers (including my self) and came back to bhurbhan side and issues 1, 2 and 3 were not faced. However, I am assuming that one knows how to drive in hilly areas and this goes for any car, you have to change gears when more power is needed or overtaking and in addition to brake you drive in low gear downhill so that brake is used alternatively with gear.

However, pillars issue is there as on some occasions I felt that pillars were too wide. This could be a problem when you have sharp turns. However, I knew it and drove accordingly and faced no issues as such.

What about Vitz pillars, Are City and vitz have same pillars width ????

I have this car and driven quite often in hilly areas.
1. The engine is OK if not perfect in the climbing territory. In my case it climbed without a glitch with 5 adults and luggage to pir sohawa, etc. It is fine and you can take it anywhere like any other car.

1. Brakes are fine but since this car tends to slip after wheel locks better be careful. Depends on the kind of tires you are running. I have Michellins and there are no wheel locks now as compared to previous tires.

2. Ground clearance is OK. You will face no issues in Murree and its surroundings.

3. A pillars are big but since its driving position is higher you will not face the kind of difficulty I face in my 8th gen civic. That car is a nightmare to drive in corners and tight spaces.

Which City do you have and what about its maintenance and fuel average in city and long route ????
Pillar ka jab say suna hai ....to just thinking for Vitz.... as its auto average is good....

But City idsi is first priority....

Go for city only if you can find one in good condition.

Pillars will not cause much of a problem and I dont think this should be a deciding factor between the cars. You will get used to it. The view is just fine. As I said the driving position is higher and compensates for that.

Average is 17 long 13 city with AC.

Maintanence is neither very cheap nor very expensive. It should be cheaper to maintain than a Vitz.

Go for it. Its a comfortable car.

About which model of vitz you are talking about ? I have kept both cars i.e. city 2004 & vitz 2001 & vitz 2006, and I only felt wide pillar problem in city 2004 neither in vitz 2001 nor in 2006.

My range is around Rs. 6,50 - 7 lac.

So, I am thinking for City 2005.
I will search 2006, but 2006 is in higher price range.

and for Vitz i think, I can find out 99 - 2001...

yes you can easily get a vitz 2001 in your budget and IMO maintaining a 1st gen vitz is quite easy than 4th gen city.

Dear Ali 454, Your are using Michllins tyres to fix the car brakes....
which tyre size you are using, R u using Alloy rims too ??? also, what about other tyres i.e. Dunlop, Yokohama ????

Not using AlloyRims. Tires are stock size.
Yes braking has improved. Michelin XM dont remember exact model.
Yokohama and Dunlop are good tires as well.
I am using Yokohama Advan DB and Yokohama DNA Ecos in other cars but have found Michelins to be slightly better than yokohama.

Michelins are softer and noiseless.

But, truly, will search hard for showroom maintain car....

City 05 model in clean condition with a price tag of 6.5 to 7 lac???? It can either be a joke or car can be stolen or NCP...i sold mine in black color a few months back for 840k and a friend of mine recently sold his shalimar rose 2005 city in 855k. Both in almost orig color. PS :- I sold mine city on a very short notice ..just 1 day. Sold to first buyer who came to inspect the car.

Yes cars are available but condition varies...an average condition city is a constant pain instead of pleasure. Once you are buying honda, be sure you buy immaculate and meticulously maintained car, else there is no use. Moreover the standing on the showroom is itsself a sign that it is a worthless buy. Ground realities are different. You can get a heated up, accidented' Repainted, tampered, duplicate docs and average cond car around 7 lac but that would be a constant curse.

atleast in rwp/isb region a clean car starts 8 lacs and above
