Honda city speaker replacement advice

Hey all. Need to replace the speakers as the drivers side has gone bad, current city.

Not an audiophile and have no idea about speakers and brands.What would you guys recommend? Something as a direct swap would be preferable. While I am at it would it make any difference to add speakers for the rear doors (as wiring is already there)? thanks

I upgraded the speakers in my car, and still using the OEM head unit. Makes a world of difference especially if you can afford some good ones. My CL9 has a normal audio system, whereas many of them come with premium system. So mine has 2 speakers in the front doors and 6x9 on the rear shelf. But there is room for tweeters in the dashboard and rear door speakers - because premium system ones have those. I also went ahead and added rear door speakers - so now I have components in the front, rear door speakers and rear shelf upgraded 6x9s. The rear door speakers make a bit of an 'incremental' difference, but in my case I would say even that was worthwhile.

I'm not too much into I.C.E. myself, and hardly fiddle with the navi I have in Civic. But trust me, any kind of I.C.E. that you add to your car will be totally worth it. It takes a lot of your attention away from the nonsensical urban traffic.

you spoke my mind. Been thinking about this and maybe a better sound system is the way to go. What brand did you upgrade to? Upgrading speakers is one thing, is a separate amp necessary too?

Well honestly I'm by no means an expert on this. But trust me, bit of soundproofing with better audio quality, and you will find what you've been missing. I simply got front components and rear door 6.5" coaxials (both Hertz Deici) and Focal Auditor 6x9 for rear shelf. Using OEM head unit so these speakers can handle a lot more. No amp, but combined with bit of soundproofing, this is already more firepower than I need.

All I'm saying is suppose your speaker has already gone bad, it's a great opportunity to get better speakers rather than replace with same OEM one. I hear many people say that Civic X has a great stock sound system and mine now feels crappy compared to Accord's. For starters, if you simply get yourself some decent components for front doors to start with, you will immediately feel the difference.

Dont opt for oem from dealership.
Where are you from? And how much are you willing to spend?
You can get components for front doors in 8k to 20k .

Lahore. Budget, well upto 15k is fine if it means I can get good speakers.

Connection for music would be via bluetooth, phone to oem navi.

Looking at this space. I was thinking of getting the speakers repaired for our city. Would it be good to get components in front doors and put the stock speakers in the back?

I also replaced my speakers step by step. Front components will make a huge difference. Infact that alone is enough for most people. You could install the removed speakers in the rear doors - if that doesn't yield required results, you can always remove them.

So I was just looking for components and saw these for 18k:

Honda OEM speakers are best if you are running your system without Amplifier.

Other wise get Cadence Coaxial speakers from Entertainment On Wheels Johar town lahore.

Their products have highest quality in. my openion

So i checked out 2 stores. One entertainment on wheels. According to them every speaker they have come with official 1 year warranty. If any issues they will replace it.They recommended cervin vega xed, 2 components, 2 tweeters and 2 crossovers. Could not find any model number on the box.

Checked sound works liberty. Certain higher end systems come with warranty. But say hertz lower end speakers no warranty, all coming from china. This sounds more believable to me than saying every speaker has official warranty.

Always a challenge trying to find out whats true and whats not.

I'm using Hertz and did not get any warranty. Not sure whether mine are made in China or not. In the end you'll just have to jump in, because the risk is always there. In my case since I had heard them in my friend's similar car (CL7) so the risk was mitigated. I understand that this is a significant cash outlay as well, but trust me once you get this done you will thank yourself. My 1.5T's system sounds like crap now because I've gotten used to CL's upgraded speakers. Also, insulation around the speakers makes a huge difference in stopping the 'leakage' of sound and focusing it into the cabin, but that can be done as a follow up project.

Sadly I also ordered a roller from AliExpress which never arrived. So I just made do with the curvature on these tools which did the job.

i was able to get a roller from an art paint shop. Its too wide but will do the job.

I did. Got it from sound works liberty. Got Hertz DSK 165.3. Cost 18.5k

This was basically the second cheapest option they had. Happy with the upgrade, sounds fine to me.
