Honda city transmission failure

I was driving my honda city 1.3 ivtec (manual) out of the basement, as soon as I revved it up on the steep ramp a huge thud sound came from under the hood and the car acted like its not in gear. Now the engine works fine but when I put the car in gear it doesn't responds and acts like there is no transmission at all, however when the car is idling, it produces a small drag and the rpm goes up from 900 to 1500. Can anyone explain what the hell happened and what might be cost to fix it

Is the car engaging a gear? I mean if u press the clutch and select a gear does it engage?

If the car is not engaging a gear, what state is the car in? I mean is it neutral or stuck in gear?

If you blv it's neutral, can you move the car by pushing it?

If the car is stuck in neutral,and can't engage a gear, it should be just the linkage. You can get that fixed cheap even a DIY .

Once fixed press the full pedal to disengage the clutch and engage a gear.

Mostly linkages are damage by not fully disengaging the clutch.

Open up the car hope and ask someone to press the clutch, see if the clutch linkage moves, its loacted just behind the radiator area

When i put the car in gear it doesn't engage at all, I've tried all gears. I press the clutch put the car in gear and i get no response, the gear is shifting but no response from transmission. I put the car in gear without pressing the clutch, the gear shifts easily but not engaging with the engine. I turned off the engine, put the car in gear and push it, the car moves easily like it is not engaged. Just like i mentioned earlier, it feels like there is no transmission at all

Pretty sure it's the linkage. Your stick is not connected to your gearbox. It should be an easy fix. Someone has already mentioned where it is, try looking it up ,

to move shift lever without pressing clutch when the car is turned on either means transmission not linked with gear lever, aka linkage or clutch is completely disengaged.
Of these two, mostly linkage is the culprit
