Honda City Vario Gear Lock

Hi All,

I have recently purchased a Honda City Vario 2008 and after installation of Bosch Horn in the car I faced a unique problem. After running the car for a whole day at night when I parked the car the gear stalled. It would not come out of Parking so i used the shift lock to release it but the horn also stopped working along with front speakers. I took the car to Honda the next day and they corrected the problem saying it was an electronic problem, probably replaced a few fuses and the car was back to normal, they also mentioned that the horn that i have placed is a high performance horn so that is why it happened. Anyways i asked them to correct it but they said they cannot do anything apart from Honda parts. Anyways on my way back the same issue happened again and when i parked the car this time the horn only did not work and the gear was stuck again. I then took it to a mechanic at Zamzama and they checked the fuses and the guy informed me that he replaced the fuse with a 25amp instead of a 10amp which was as per the company fitting. He mentioned that if you replace witht he same amp the same fuse will blow again. After that my car is running fine and the horn is also working. My question is if this incident which has happened is 1st common?? and 2nd having the 10Amp fuse replaced with 25Amp do any harm or was it the right thing?? The guy also mentioned that you do not need to put a relay with the horn as Honda cars already have a relay built in.

wiring problem. last thing u did was get horn right?wiring is short from somwhere, it over heats and blows the fuse.
find a good electrician and get it fixed

I believe that the company is more calculated than some other ordinary mistree....they calculated the over current and design fuses, by installing high range fuses means your wiring is under stress and any long term effect will harm any electric component.........by the way i am also fed up with the new "honda Cd 70" horn installed on my vario...but at least it warns.......

The installer must have installed the horn on a wire that cannot bear the additional load that is why the fuse blew out. Get the wiring of the horn checked. Depending on the load requirements of the horn, you might need to directly wire it to the battery and install an additional fuse in between.

Always replace fuse with one of the same rated capacity. Replacing a 10amp fuse with a 25amp will prevent the fuse from blowing but it can cause the wiring to burn out and even catch fire.

the size of hte fuse is the maximum the wire or any other lectric connection inthe path can withstand continuesly, sonever ever replace a fuse with bigger value one, secondly eve if you get a realy make suer htat that also has a fuse in its path, ...

It's a device used to control a large current flow using a small current. It may be electro-mechanical or completely electronic. You may use the horn button to activate the relay and it directs current directly from the battery to the horn.

Dear All,

Thank you very much for your in put. I agree very much with whiteangel's comments. However i discussed again with the mechanic and he informed me that Honda has made a single horn in their cars and if you replace it with the double horn, you will have to put a higher amp fuse.

So now he has replaced it with a 15amp instead of a 25amp which he also agreed would have been harmful for the wiring issues. look forward to your replies to this.

Zaheer, i was aware of this issue so before i got my citys horn swapped i replaced the fused first,, after which its running perfectly..no need to worry, and the zamzama mechanic is right, the stock honda horn is single only so doesnt need much power hence a lower amp fuse...sit back relax and enjoy your vario

City vario gear stucks if the breake lights do not come on while put out from parking.
it is due to a fuse in fuse box locate and replace, also keep with some spare fuses.
Even do try to park in neutral gear with hand brakes if the brake lights not working.

there is only one 10 amp fuse which is common for brake lights and horn, replace it.
