Honda Civic 1998 Automatic Transmission

I have recently bought a 1998 Honda civic with Automatic transmission and want to get transmission fluid changed.The car is running fine now and there is no as such problem.I am just getting it changed because i have no knowledge if it was changed after 40k or not .The previous owner had no idea when he changed the trans fluid. Please guide which ATF should i get and Is Honda DW 1 and Honda DX 3/DX III same thing.Please Guide as local mechanics are suggesting zic and other oils but i believe Honda Genuine ATF is good enough.waiting for yor response.

Never trust any other oil than honda in transmission. I believe you need to have DXIII transmission oil DW1 were for later ones.

am so sorry am deaf & blind for any Honda with 4 wheels less the lawn mowers

You are true indeed and the info you shared is . But due to the 2 numbry it is suggested to have it purchased and replaced from 3/2S.....
At least there will be no doubt in the mind of owner....

Every one is not that much knowledgable like you or me.... We have to give a simple and easy solution like Afan Bhai given in a straight simple way.

Though i agree with you...

will go for Genuine Honda ATF.The car is 295000 kms driven.
