Asalam o alaikum,
I hope you all are doing well. I have a 2004 automatic Honda Civic. I’ve taken it to Chitral a couple of times. On some steep climbs, I kept the car in 'D' and didn’t shift it to 'L' gear. I’ve noticed something — when going downhill, I shifted the car to 'L' gear to keep it under control, but even then, the speed would increase, and I had to use the brakes. Is this normal behavior? I'm a bit curious about this because I thought the car wouldn’t gain too much speed in 'L' gear while descending. But that wasn’t the case — it still reached speeds of 40–50 km/h. Can someone please guide me?
Alhamdulillah, the car is mechanically sound with no issues in the engine or transmission. I just want to understand the behavior of the gears.
JazakALLAH khair
