Honda civic 2014 engine oil zic x7 5w20 (a+) vs total quartz 9000 5w30 Which one i should use . Zic recommeds 5000km drain interval while total recommends 9000km interval. Odo meter 92000 km . I was using zic previously .. but totals longer drain interval is on my mind .. i would like to know pros and cons and which one is better in terms of quality

Sir i would recommend total 9000 as its good value. But i am not sure about drain interval. U should drain on 5k

do not stretch oil change in civic beyond 5000 km drain interval. it is recommended by honda explicitly to change oil at 5000 km drain interval with orignal oil filter.

Total will not last longer than 5k. Stick to what ur using if u are not facing any issues

There is nothing like it, in fact it is being said by the workers at Total pumps, oil change stores, etc. that 9000 means for 9000 Kms, 5000 means for 5000 Kms, etc.

Do not fall prey to such marketing gimmicks or tactics!

Some companies even claim that their some oils last 15-25,000 Kms drain intervals, where as in their products data sheets, they have clearly mentioned to follow the recommended drain interval mentioned in the owners / users manual, i.e. "Jaagday raina, saaday tey na raina..."

Then why the gimmick of 15-25,000 Kms drain intervals, when manual is saying to replace after 5000 Kms, along with genuine oil filter?

ENEOS Sustina is also one of the great oils.

I have been using ENEOS Sustina 5w-30 in 2017 in my Passo, but being expensive, I later shifted to Total and ZIC, etc.

Very informative .. my chacho(worked in zic) suggested zic is better than total and the reason he gave the total is locally blendid hence lower quality compared to zic .. but my cousin said in pakistani envoirment we should not go for 5w20 of any brand but go for 5w30 according odo meter reading . My car ran 35000 kms(7 oil changes) now current reading is 92000 km ..( plus i bought a used car so i dont know meter reverse he na hua kahin ) perfectly on 5w20 zic . But now i am thinking may be i m on mistake and should be using 5w30... any other u wud suggest against total 5w30 .

Both oils are great.

Means both are great in their respective leagues, categories, most important being; engine oil grade / viscosity.

In 5w-20, ZIC A+ and Shell, both are good, as these are fully synthetics, meeting many other different latest criteria too.

In 5w-30, Total Quartz 9000 Future series is great (as 5w-30 offered by Shell is semi-synthetic, and ZIC does not offer any 5w-30 currently)

Do not mix up 5w-20 and 5w-30. These are different grades of engine oil, and IMO, 5w-30 is best suited in Honda Civic 2014.

I would disagree with it.

ZIC and Total, both have local blending facilities here, however, not all of their oils are blended here locally.

To just give 02 examples:

ZIC A+ 5w-20 is a fully imported engine oil. It has not started locally blended here.

Similarly, Total Quartz 9000 Future Series 5w-30 and 0w-20 are also fully imported engine oils. They have not started locally blended here.

Its another myth, with no logical and scientific background. And it is not a general rule, which applies to all vehicles.

Mohsin see if you are using w20 oil in your ride without an issue, just for the drain interval u shouldn't switch to a w30 which of almost similar standard but of a different grade.
