I would suggest you to buy 185/65/15. This size will give you maximum fuel economy as its has less drag and weight. I am using this size tires for last 4 years and these are excellent. Rest is your liking but do change the oversize tires 205/60/15 as soon as possible as these give low fuel economy and make power steering heavy or stiff.

Just pull out the glovebox/dashboard whatever you call it. and behind that is cabin air filter. see video on YouTube it is very easy

Hi Everyone,

I have EXI Prosmatec 2003, facing problem in brakes, steering vibrates when brakes applied, Rotor needs to be changed or other option is khradia.
Option 1 is new which cost aprox 12K from authorized dealer
Option 2 is from bilal gunj aprox. cost is 4 - 5k (No idea how to check are these good or in bad condition)
Option 3 is Khradia that cost 1K.

Please suggest which option to go with.

Currently Nissin brake pads installed from which am not satisfied. Any other option other than genuine?

Transmission Oil have burn smell but color of oil is good. aprox. 25K KM driven on this oil (Honda ATF DW1).
Should I change or its normal smell? Gear behave unusual in cold engine. (Sometime slips or sometime not shifted even at 4 RPM).

Early response will be highly appreciated.

change the transmission oil, burning smell is a good enough indication that the oil has gone bad. if u can afford better get the new rotor. otherwise refer the manual for oem spec for rotor limits and get it resurfaced accordingly

Assalam o Alaikum every one
I had kept this beauty for 9 years in manual tranny. A 2003 Vti Oriel. Then on father's insist had to sale it.
Unable to forget the love I bought it again, this time a VTi Prosmatec with 130,000 on the odo. The car is in good nick engine, transmission, suspension every mechanical aspect is good. The old owner although didn't took great care but didn't spoiled it either.
After purchase I had replaced Honda genuine ATF, Honda genuine fuel filter, ngk platinum sparks, flushed engine oil thrice now using micking 5w/30 satisfactorily. Have driven the car 6500 kilometers happily.
The only issue I am facing is fuel consumption, my old manual vti used to give me 8/14-15 city/highway. Local used to be even better when I am in Islamabad. This one read 6/10 initially. Later with replacement of engine oil and sparks improved to 7/12. When I got valve adjustment done, the consumption came back to 6/10. Even worse sometimes. Got complete check up, valve readjusted, throttle cleaning, HDS from Honda 2S but to no improvement. Referred to another mechanic, he checked and found the butterfly thing in throttle is going... so changed it too. But that all to no effect
Recent stats are on a full tank (that had 25ltrs VPower) I have drove it 310kms and it's almost done now. No more than 30kms is left. Out of this total 260 were on highway. Evident from previous cars consumption, I am a driver with light foot.
Shall we use this forum to enlist all possible reasons for high consumption, it will be a great log for all of us.

butterfly shouldn't go bad at 130k, mine has done 281K and original butterfly is still working perfectly.

which city you are based in?

Don't know about valve gap, is it the same thing "valve adjustment" aka tappit adjustment?
Butterfly was bad, he showed it to me, light passing through sides and after replacement no light passing through sides.

My exi prosmetic 2003 gives 9+ in local and around 11 on long. Always knew that vti had better average in all aspects. Find a decent mechanic and show him ur car. Dont show ur car to any road side mechanic its a request rest m sure users from ur city might help u out

Yup. My manual had excellent average for its age and engine size. Although that had been on cng also. On CNG it gave me upto 210 on highway.

Actually I think the problem is not in tuning, its somewhere in valve adjustment or power delivery. Although it shifts nice but sometimes I observe different RPMs for the same speed. E.g in my last highway trip I observed rpm 2.8 and also 2.5 on speed 100. At both I was driving steadily and peddle pressed. Not that I relieved the paddle or cruising condition changed

Get remove fuel injectors and clean them in Ultrasonic bath. If you are not willing to do it then at least use fuel injector cleaner or complete fuel system cleaner regularly from Gumout/STP/Flamingo after every 3000 KM before oil change. Do wheel alignment, Replace worn out/hard tires with new ones with standard size, Keep tire pressure 30 to 32 PSI on all tires, Use only ZIC 5W/30 or 5W/20 for maximum mileage, Remove all extra material in car rear luggage area. Flush the engine twice a year by draining old oil and then pour 2 liter diesel into engine and start engine for 10 to 15 minutes on idle speed. Then drain diesel and change fuel filter and add new engine oil.

Tyres in pretty good shape, well aligned
Air pressure always at 30psi
Using 5/30 already by Micking
All car stock, no extra weight or anything
Engine not drained yet considering to use liquimoly engine flush

But brothers I want to make a list of all possible problems causing high consumption.
By the way what is the possibility of transmission causing high consumption

Dear Talal one very important thing which I missed is that you should also check the free rotation of all wheels by lifting up the car and turn the wheel by hand one by one. If any wheel stops immediately or feel hard to rotate then get repair the brake or wheel bearing whichever is found faulty. This brake fault creates drag force on car engine and results in poor mileage. Furthermore, check shock absorbers, weak shocks resist free rolling of car and impair fuel mileage. Replace faulty shocks with reconditioned shocks or new ones. Lastly, change power steering and transmission oil with new as recommended by Honda. Finally, try to decarbonize piston tops by using carburetor cleaner through brake booster vacuum pipe. This method will help to remove all old carbon deposits from combustion chamber very quickly and make engine work more efficiently.

start with the most notorious cause.. check fuel pump and fuel filter.. fuel pump pressure is 42-48psi at 2500 rpm, out of spec pressure causes such problems

Just got checked the fuel pump pressure, its on 40psi.

But how to check it on 2500 rpm since they disconnect the pipe from engine and plug it to the pressure gauge in this case engine cannot be started and rpm is raised
