You have reduced its life as soon as you have opened up that bearing seal! where are you getting this information? Why manufacturers do not recommend opening brand new bearings and putting grease in it?

About genuine parts, contact dealership, they do have parts for 2005 honda. If not readily available, they arrange from their warehouse within a week. Timing belt and timing bearing must be bought from dealership, its not worth 2lac rupees, only 10-15k expense once in 80-100k KMs.

agreed. I did not find much luck with local spare parts shop so i got it from honda 1s. moreover, you can always import some. But genuine parts are a must, especially for such critical cases.

I have Honda Civic 2005 with millage of 110000km. Previously I was using Shell Ultra 5w-40w Oil was superb in performance wise but i had issue of leaking of seals so I changed all my seals vti rubber as well after sometime again head seal got leaked like replaced it twice because of which oil level decreased a bit but car is'nt consuming the oil level stays the same.
Can you all suggest me what is the best option for me while replacing engine oil or should I should opt for the same engine oil.

Your recommendations would highly be appreciated!

use 5w30 for optimum performance:

Yes depends how much you can afford. But personally I feel the aftermarket spare parts like timming belt brand Mistubishi, timming bearing brand Goto, water pump brand GMB are making satisfactory quality products for honda civic cf4 with very reasonable price.

i got the timing belt work done in november 2018. I was also under the stress of finding the genuine stuff and had decided to go for aftermarkets. But luckily, honda 1s in khi was offering genuine parts so i opted for them and found a massive difference in the build quality of aftermarkets and genuine. its not only about the money and honda stamp, its more about the longitivity, durability and peace of mind. I was offered an aftermarket timing belt from honda spare parts dealers for rs. 700 with an expected life of 15000 - 20000 kms. However the difference in price of genuine timing bearing and after market timing bearing was negligible. Both were around rs. 7500.

the leakage from the head is caused by aftermarket local tappet cover gaskets. always buy the genuine one (rs. 1000 or 1100). these locals 250, 400 waali dont work for more than a month

I'm having no issue with aftermarket selected quality spare parts since last 6 years with my honda civic exi pros 2006. As I am a senior engineer age 56 and have the experience to judge the right stuff for me in much reasonable price.

sir are you using that Rs. 700/- worth timing belt for the first time? i mean is it first belt change or second?

First of all these imported bearings lubrication is not designed for high temperatures as here in Pakistan and therefore it melts and drained out from bearing resulting in premature faillure. Secondly, its a complete misconcept that bearings life reduces if its seals are openned. No its not like it. When you regrease bearings with good quality high temperature synthetic grease then do put back seals properly so that they won't come off. Always put grease with clean tools and clean excess grease with clean cloth or tissue paper otherwise dust will contaminate grease and damage bearing. For best high temp grease please buy from pakwheels online website.

I want to buff my windscreen of honda civic 2005 exi due to light wiper scratches. I went to Shan windscreen specialist in Johar town. The techanician buffed a small portion on windscreen and scratches competely removed but color of that small area on windscreen slightly changed from dark to light dark (good quality windscreens has dark color if observe from outside). Techanician said that windscreen was very old and so carbon and dust shade developed on surface and after buffing it removed so screen has become very clear. Was he saying correct reason or its just a lie. He adviced me to buff the whole screen for uniform appearence. Personally I like the dark look of windscreen. New windscreen # 1 copy comes for Rs 7500 with extra Rs 1100 fitting charges at home. What you people suggest me either I go for complete buffing for Rs 1500 or go for new windscreen. I think oem windscreens come with a clear coat. When they buff it, the clear coat is removed and hence the different appearance.

yes I am also contemplating buying a new windscreen and headlamps. My current windscreen has a lot of glare and combine that with scratched and fading headlamps, night driving is a bit of hassle.
