Thanks for the kind comments guys.....I'm looking to get something done about the head lights the light output is minimal and I don't want HIDS since I know how it feels when someone blinds you with these lights......is rally vision the best option? thank you.

AoA .. I have recently purchased Honda Civic 2005 EXi Prosmatec around 150K on ODO (no reverse / tempering with ODO) .. got few stuff done i.e. replaced the Timing Belt, Timing Bearing, Water Body, Tuned Tappets, Throtle Body Serviced, replaced all the bushes and rubber parts done in suspension, flushed transmission oil n pour HONDA ATF 3 Liters etc ..

Now, the issues i have and need your expert opinion for

1. I have to change Front Shocks - I am not looking for kabli or get these ones serviced but have no idea what would be the prices of brand new genuine ones & from where i should buy these in ISB / RWP?

Secondly, i am getting max per km mileage of 8 - 9 (in city without AC - with extreme light foot), haven't taken her yet on long routes so can't comment over that. From the guy i bought this car, told me to stick with Shell Helix 20W-50 .. i dont know why because sound of engine is good MashAllah and there is water from exhaust when started in morning, besides no issues of smoke, nor it is eating / lowering any oil.

What if i dont stick to Shell Helix 20W-50 (driving upto 4000KMs) and go for any other engine oil like LiquiMoly or Zic (please experts do advise the authentic resource for that too) and which oil grade i should opt now ?

Which spark plugs i should now be using? if i intend to replace the current ones?

Precisely, what would you guys recommend if i want to enhance the mileage (without hypermiling) and some tweaking with the oil change?

after getting this car last month, i am surprised how easily everything is available for this model. literally.

parts are a little on a higher side as you know its a honda, i moved from alto to civic so there is a significant parts price difference but considering the performance and quality it delivers, its worth it.

i will ask few questions so the kind members and myself could advise you in a better fashion.

1. which city are you from? in islamabad there is bismilliah autoshop in melody and in rawalpindi there is mehran autos in rawalpindi. i can guarantee best rates from both these shops for civic parts and they have literally everything available as brand new OEM parts and they also keep cost effective chinese parts.

2. your cars previous owner seems to be using a very thick oil already, you have to diagnose the engine oil already in the car and see if the car smokes or decreases the engine oil. if you think there is not symptoms of any of the above then i would suggest get the oil changed and pour in 10W40 (shell) i am recommending you shell inittially for checking purposes because if you buy Liqui moly for 4000 rupees and car start decreasing oil then it will be waste, so get shell 10w40 engine oil and run it for good 1500 km, if you see no smoke and / or oil decreasing then get Liqui Moly 10w40 engine oil (4L gerry can) from I-8 Markaz (its liqui moly authorized dealer).

3. considering the above, please flush your cars engine cooling system and drain all the water and only use COOLANT for your car.

4. for better mileage i will suggest to go for the above engine oil remedy, thinner 10W40 all weather oil will result in better millage along with combination of LIQUI MOLY, you should nto expect miracles from automatic transmission, i have a manual vti oriel and i get around 13-14 inside islamabad without AC these days and i hyper mile alot with only occasional burst of acceleration. so start adjusting your foot by hypermilling and use fewer burst of acceleration

5. buy only normal spark plugs, never buy iridium or fancy plugs as fancy plugs give performance but not mileage, so get normal spark plugs which are recomended in manual of the car, i bought 4 plugs from bismillah auto last month for 800 rupees. normal standard recomended spark plugs ensure supreme milage,

6. i have my own personal remedy to get best milage, i always get full tank of petrol in my car and empty it, i never get 500,1000 petrol rather finish the whole tank and then get the whole tank full to brink, call me silly lol but i believe in this and car acts better. also every car in my house gets fuel from attock pump f-11. getting petrol from company operated pump is very very crucial as franchise pumps play with the quality of fuel.

I would suggest to go lowerer 5w40 will work best. Go with it on next oil change. I am using 5w30 Honda genuine personally. Use NGK spark plugs use simple ones no need to go with costly iridium ones.

Bro regarding mileage. you have to live with it. with luxurious civic drive you need to accept that you can't achieve mileage like city etc. For example i get 12-13 Km/L on Islamabad highway. and in city its always little low. Still to enhance mileage there are some important things
* try getting car tuned from Honda they will clear throttle body and set air fuel ratio with Laptop
* change Petrol pumps (Yes they matter alot ) it can affect mileage upto 1-2Km/L some petrol pumps has bad quality that's why
* check if you are using OEM tyre size
* Use thin oil. 5w40 is better or try 10w40. Thinner the oil lesser the engine has to work.
Try it hope it works.

Regarding shocks i recently got Kabli ones. Original are too costly. It costed me around 25k Rupees for Engine Mount 1, Front both shocks, New steering rod , Some bushes so you can guess when car suspension will be opened there can be some kharcha more than you expect. Shocks are not the only part bushes also need changing and steering can also need changing since many 7th gen has steering assembly leakage issue.

probably 40k, and for an auto tranny probably 30k. i guess the manual can tell your when to change as nissin pads have a little less life thn the OEM pads so whatever manual says take out 10k from it.

its good to hear that people still care about the incoming traffic

as far as the HIDs r concerned you can very well install HIDs but for that you'll need to install projector headlight housing as well. if you install projectors with HIDs it will be best. if you still insist on using the same reflector housing you can use OSRAM night breaker or rally vision.. both r good

If ur thinking of getting the steering assembly changed, it hardly costs 5k in chaah sultan though they ask 7k but rest is nogotiation but getting the old one out and new one in is PITA. Got my done a few months back so knw lol
