salam, i have used dunlops, bridgeston and continentals. most recent purchase of mine were continentals, got them for my fathers city and i thought continentals are the best of them all until i bought Michelin for my vti oriel last month, Michelin is even better thn yokos, continentals by around 50% better comfort, significant difference. salam,

so after painful 2 weeks, i have managed to figure out whats causing surging/fluctuating idle of my car.

today when i got back home from office, took out my rachet kit and took out the airfilter box of the car.

what i see will blow your mind, the sensor behind the throttle body which is screwed to throttle body was moving freely and no nut/bolt was holding it with the throttle body ( i have been told its a choke sensor which adjust the timing of the car as per the load on the car)

3 weeks ago this car was fully tuned by HONDA 3S Peshawar road Rawalpindi, i spent 12000 rupees at HONDA. Honda guys did tappet adjustment, throttle body cleaning etc.

they guy who did my car forgot to put in these 2 (both) ALLEN key bolts back. the sensor was roaming around free.

Attaching the below TWO videos, i was sharing these videos with a friend who was guiding me what to open and what to check because of bad idle.

what you are about to see will blow your mind.

below video will show you in which state if found this sensor.

and then below video after starting the car and checking idle stability after holding sensor by my hand.

oh wow! honda 3s service is really pathetic now. They are not interested on working old cars any more and usually tend to forget such things. For past 2 years, i have had very bad experiences with them. Glad you figured it out! Give those monkeys a good lesson

this ICAV, there are two bolts for it, try to fix it sooner else you may need to replace it with new one because its bearing needs a bit of lubrication to work properly

AoA .. so i was having fluid leakage issue from Power Steering Pump, just as an opinion visited Aqaash today, he recommended to replace the SEALS n the leakage will be stopped so i got it done through him, took an hour or so, his guy Faheem who also work for Honda I-9 serviced all of the pump, replaced seals, flushed PSF n poured Honda PSF, i urged Aqaash if i have to replace the PSP n go for Kaabli but he guaranteed n was confident that replacing seals n servicing the pump should get the job done .. total cost of service + seals + Honda PSF bill = Rs. 2500/-

Now up coming works would be

1. Getting rid from Shell Helix 20W-50 to 10W-40 (though Aqaash asked me to go for Honda 10W-30).


2. Installing NGK stock plugs (mentioned in Honda manual) - Current ones are Denso (not sure about exact part number).

Doing all of the exercise for better mileage, which is currently between 8 - 9 KM/L (with hyper miling n extremly low foot)

P.S. I have 2005 EXi Prosmatec ... any tips from seniors please .. would be highly obliged.

Shell isnt the best of oils. If you can source Liqui Molly it would be good, otherwise settle with Zic. As far as the oil grade is concerned, dont jump from shell 20w-50 to 10w-30, might cause you problems straight away as shell 20w-50 is quite viscous oil. Over time your piston rings and seals adjust to the thicker oil and may start leaking oil if you shift to a thinner grade. 10w-40 is good enough for a car over 120k plus on the odo.

Both NGK BKR5E and Denso K16 are recommended as per Honda manual. However if you're running cng as well, you might as well have to settle for a colder spark plug, like NGK BKR6E or Denso k20. Use high octane alongwith the regular premium fuel and enjoy the ride. I have a vti oriel pros, giving around 10.3km / lit (without ac in KHI city) on petrol and around rs. 4.9 / km on CNG.

Thank you so much for detailed reply bhai, thats what i have decided, will go for Liqui Moly 10W-40, will get my spark plugs changed too along with air n oil filters (as like i do with almost every oil change). My car has never been to CNG n i usually top up some HOBC too.

Currently, i replace oil after every 4000 KMs, what do you suggest after how many KMs of LM 10W-40 i should be replacing it? as LM recommend to use it for 8000 KMs .. what cycle i should go for ?

Continentals CC5 have come up to be the best options by far compared to anything else available in the market in this segment for all my friends, and no I am not saying that eurostars are good tires rather I meant that being rock hard helps them in being not damaged on our roads, they suck at pretty much all other areas.

Oil change is not a hard n fast rule with all the oils available in the market, usually it differs with each brand. shell holds good for 3500-4000, i use a korean brand which goes good for 5000. i havent used liqui moly but heard that it can stand about 8000. confirm that first

Its a personal preference but those people who have used both tyres recommend CC5 slightly better than yoko

Please elaborate what do you mean by "settle for a colder spark plug" what is the difference between BKR5E and BKR6E and why would latter perform better on CNG

I noticed its RPM at 120 is 38000 or 39000. is it ok or something wrong happening to my car? moreover, when should I god for gear box overhauling? i mean is it necessary at 150k as my car have no issue in gears or engine.

In exi, rpm should be around 3000-3100 at 120 kmph. 3800-3900 is very high

Wa Salam, though I am not an expert but having RPM of 3800 / 3900 at speed of 120 KM/hr seems very much reasonable, i am getting almost the same on my Civic 2005 EXi Prosmatec - if you have the manual tranny i think you should have a better RPM as you have got 5th forward gear as well whereas in Prosmatec there are only 4 forward gears, regarding gear box overhauling, i dont think there is some hard n fast rule to do that until it slips some gears or create some sound or leak some fluid. Just get the Honda MTF replaced after certain mileage as per manual.
