Honda civic 8th gen 2007 model, engine check light and heating

Engine light appers for the first time and car starts to over heat.
After it reaches 2-3 points above centre I switched off the car and open the radiator, it was empty!
I poured 1 5L of water, it is now cooled but engine check light is still there!?
What is the best coolant for reborn?
Also how to turn off engline check light?

Before you put coolant in, you need to find out where did the old coolant go?
There must be a leak and you need to find it.
You can remove the check engine light by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery terminal .

Engine check light might be pointing towards something serious.
Please get it checked to find out what error code triggers the engine check light.
It seems the radiator requires cleaning as well.
But it is important to sort out the engine check light issue first.

Most common issues relating to check engine light:
1: MAF sensor
2: Catalytic converter
3: Oxygen sensor
4: Spark plugs AWA its wiring

If the problems still persist, then check it via error codes scanner.
