Assalamo Aalikum Brother..
I am facing a problem regarding engine oil... I am a first time Civic 8th gen owner and have kept only a Mehran previously.... My car is consuming engine oil... I am confused that is it normal or not?
Let me explain in detail...
I have bought it 2nd hand at 75,000 km and drove it for 10,000 more km till now.. All running in Islamabad... Previous owner used CNG.. But I drive totally on petrol.. Right after buying it, I went to Sindh - 3000 km trip and the car did not reduce any oil.... After that, for 2,3 more oil changes car did not reduce any oil... I used to drive very lazily, accelerating at 2500 rpm and cruising at 1600 rpm... But after last oil change at 82,000 km, the dip stick is showing half level of oil.. exactly in middle today after 2600 km ... I now accelerate at 3000+ rpm, with occasional pedal-to-metal accelerations... cruise at 2000 rpm and have to drive a lot in stop start traffic...
After starting engine, i let it idle for 5 minutes and then drive very slowly for 3 km to let the engine warm up properly... Have not detected any smell in the exhaust, and colour of smoke is not visible because of Catalytic converter I think...
Is my engine oil consumption normal, keeping in view my driving habit? I forgot to mention, I am currently using 10W30 simple mineral oil from Honda, the one costing 2000 Rs... And I am planning to get 5W30 Total Quartz 9000 Synthetic on this oil change...
I am really confused, because I dont feel any difference in engine power while driving, except ofcourse with AC....
There is no oil leakage, I have checked....
So what is your expert opinion about the oil consumption problem???
I always change oil filter at each oil change, get air filter cleaned each week and replace it every 3000 km.. Every part genuine.. Laser tip spark plugs...
Still..... what can be the problem?
P.S. The car was used for some spirited driving by the previous owner (I learnt this much later), but its engine and everything was okayed by my trusted and competent mechanic...
