I just bought a used 2008 model civic. It is in quiet a good condition with no steering oil leakage yet and engine mount is still fine. I have a few questions to ask

Q1- How do I know if the engine mount is weak, does it break instantly?
Q2- The invoices pasted above, will I have to spend such a huge amount on every car checkup? How often should I get the car checked up and oil/filters(air+oil) changed?
Q3- is the Honda oil good enough to be used or should I use liquimoly or zic that we have been using previously? Any idea about the mileage comparison of Honda vs liquimoly? Today I changed it to liquimoly 5w-30 but a friend said to change to total or any cheaper 5w-30 next time as max mileage is almost same. I rarely redline the revs
Q4- how to check if the catalytic converter is attached or removed? If it is removed will it further effect the fuel average?

Q5- my car has the old CD player installed, how much will I have to pay to get the one that you have (saw it in your YouTube review video)

Will be grateful if you answer these questions for me I had other options like city and swift but I just love this 8th Gen. this is my FIRST ever car.

plz advice me with fuel average issue. I have observed that fuel average is fluctuating too much. recently my prosmatic 2010 goes 9-10 km per litre and other day it is touching as low as 3-4 km per litre . This much of fluctuation is making me worried. Please advice how i can improve my average? though the plugs are due to change now and will get it done by this week.
(scale used to measure the avg - considering 1 dot/bar representing 2 litres of fuel. average 1 dot/bar drops after 17-18 km with AC on and on worst side it drops 2-3 dot/bars within 15-20 km in my case)

The bars drop faster as the tank is about to empty. In my experience they never tell true story and are infact misleading. Bars show an approximate only.

Correct method to check will be to fill up the tank to brim drive about 200 kms and fill again from the same petrol station and measure how many litres used.

yr driving until fuel tanks gets low is v impractical, we cant always do that to keep a regular chk on avg.
the avg i hv mentioned above was recorded between half and quarter tank. I hv also observed that approx on every 2litre refill 1 bar lights up !

You mentioned fluctuating mileage. I told you a method to be 100% sure. You dont have to drive till empty. Fill up and drive just 200kms to check.
There is no other method to calculate accurate mileage.

I would suggest try doing this before coming to any conclusion.

Guys I am selling my Civic Reborn 2008 Hydraulic Steering Rack (an extra lying around with me). It has been professionally repaired for leaks with 3 months warranty (incase of a leak will be repaired free of cost). Also note that only healthy steering racks can be fixed with new seals and not faulty ones so it is in fine working condition and no issues.

Pictures are pasted below. I am asking very modest 11K for it. In market Kabli steering racks (mostly repaired) cost between 16-20K.

Civic owners, I m getting hiss sound from engine bay even after driving 2-3 kms. fuel average is v low and accelerator pedal seems tight and feels like its not vaccuming properly, pick is low too

any idea where this hiss sound b coming from ? i feel like vacuum leakage

Yes I believe it is possible.

ANS 1 Engine vibration increases from normal but it’s best to let a mechanic inspect. Hard to tell through self examination.

ANS 2 No you have don’t to spend so much. This was on 100k Km checkup.

ANS 3 Liqui Moly is superior but you must install a very good oil filter otherwise you can’t get the benefit of longer oil life. Hence personally I follow the advice of your friend and use standard oils.

ANS 4 without the CAT the car sounds like it has a broken exhaust system. Especially when you start cold. Fuel average should not be impacted. You actually gain 1/2 HP.

ANS 5 please don’t install the system in the video as it is 10 year old. Plenty of very good high tech After market head units available ranging from 30k to 90k which you can go for with much more functionally.

So much variation is not possible. In a later message you also mentioned a hissing sound.

It would be best to discuss over the phone to get a better idea of what’s going on.

Any suggestions on Mobil oil, and any maintenance due in this period.
I have been using shell 5w-30 since start,changed steering fluid,tyres and nothing else.
It’s a manual car.

I am a new member of this club as I have bought civic 08 oriel prosmatec in silver before Eid. Really loving every bit of it, will share with u ppl the little problem I am facing but I may not be able to describe here in a comprehensible manner. I am facing a small krrrrr krrrrr sound, it only appears momentarily and then reappears after a little while but I also think it is not from gear/transmission as the same appears even when the car is standing still in P.
