Honda Civic 99-00 Performance Mods

Hi All,

I have Civic 99 and so far I did following upgrades over stock:

• Straight piping 2.0
• HKS HiPower Muffler (2'' Inlet, 4'' Outlet)
• Mesh Grill
• Fog Lights
• GT Style Spoiler (need to replace it with original RS spoiler, if someone is selling then let me know)
• Lenso rims painted black
• Front bumper corner splitters (need to replace them with bumper lip, if someone is selling in ABS plastic then let me know, need for rear bumper as well)
• 8 Interior Lights (4-foot, 2-above speakers, 1-steering, 1-below lighter)
• 4 Unbody Lights (fitted myself)

Pictures are attached. Now I want some real performance upgrades. The engine bay is all stock and first I am looking for turbo. Some say, D15 is a small engine to afford turbo while others think T25 can play perfect with D15 if tuned well with boost controller, fuel pump etc. The engine is running smoothly without any trouble and I have already spent on belts, leakges, transmission etc. so I don't want to replace it with H series just for the turbo.

Please tell me which workshop is best for this purpose. I have heard about All Motor, Hashmi Motor and Overdose Motor Sports in Lahore so suggest someone reliable and cost-effective for this upgrade and share your experiences too.

how cheap do you think turbo will? less then those little work?
it will cost you more then a H series swap. way more.

@sajawal391 I checked their facebook page, it looks like they have done turbo on D15 before so I will visit them and see how much they costs etc. Thanks for sharing though!

@Hassan1991 What do you suggest? Should I go for turbo on D15 or swap it with H series for better performance? I guess engine swap is much safer than installing turbo since the power addition is roughly same ~70-80hp

Brother this is an non vtec d15 mere 103hp. Good for daily. If you need power throw in a H22A or F20B dohc.

For reliable power, a stock dohc honda setup is the way to go. I recommend avoiding turbo unless you’re willing to build the block and throw in a new turbo along with aftermarket ecu with a good dyno tune. I expect turbo cost to be higher.

@Hassan1991 @Bilalicious @rajaahmed96 Thanks for comments, I am now convinced that going turbo will be expensive and less reliable than swapping it with H22 considering the addition of power. Can you guys tell me a rough estimate for the complete swap from D15 to H22 and recommend me a workshop that does everything including tuning and make it a daily driven, not a daily workshop show car.

Keep 300k minimum aside for swap and lubes. Since you’re in lahore, I recommend maxpower. You can have your car dyno’d too and see how much power is it putting to the wheels.

@Bilalicious @dani_kk @rajaahmed96 I didn't know even the engine swap costs this much. I will check with Maxpower and All Motor Sports. Both of them are quite promising and do dyno tuning as well.

Allmotor doesnt have dyno but they do good swaps. Maxpower has dyno as well as tuning options. 300k includes h22 cost but it depends how much you source the engine for.

Honda engines are very expensive, and proper installation costs alot, but it makes the car trouble free for longtime. Cheap swaps done in market costs too less but makes the end user trapped in stress.. Money spills like water to fix those juggar baazi's... So that's the reason why good installations, good lubes and high quality packages are expensive.

@Bilalicious @dani_kk You guys are right, there are people who charge you 150k or less for such swaps but their juggars forced you to keep visiting them every next day.

These are the best H22 swaps done by All Motor. I don't the power, torque etc. however it looks like both are not daily-driven as there are no ACs. So, I am worried, is it hard to install AC with H22? My car is daily driven so I am curious about the feasibility of swap.

no it's not hard to install ac at all. although i don't like it in a project car.
my friend got h22a civic (it's swapped now). it had ac with h22. Wiring engine up is not difficult. It's not only swapping engine you have to upgrade the suspension also. because h22 is heavy.
h22a cost 120~130k.
