I hope this message finds you well.
I am currently experiencing a starter issue with my 8th generation Honda Civic Hybrid (FD3, JDM model). Recently, the car has a problem where, upon turning the key to the "ON" or "START" position, I can hear a clicking sound (a single 'tik'), but the engine does not crank or start.
Interestingly, the car will only start after I disconnect and reconnect the 12v battery terminals, at which point it functions normally for a time before the issue repeats.
I have already confirmed the following:
The clicking sound is coming from the engine bay area.
The battery terminals are secure, and the battery appears to be in fair condition.
The issue does not appear consistently — it only resolves temporarily after the battery is reset.
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone who has experienced a similar issue or has in-depth knowledge of the Honda Civic Hybrid could share their experience, insights, or suggestions regarding this matter. Whether it be common faults in the starter relay, grounding issues, ECU or immobilizer behavior, or any relevant troubleshooting steps, your input would be truly valuable.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.
