Hey Everyone,

Just a quick question, How bad will it be to get a Reborn.
I owned a Corolla 2012 and then bought City 2013, now planing to switch to Reborn. Will it be my worse decision or I should not be much worried about it.
Just for everyone to know I am a salaried person (Not a very high salary) I just dont want the car to be very much heavy on my pocket. I hardly drive cars, they are only driven once in a week.
Just guide me regarding this matter. Thanks in Advance

It just has a downside of fuel mileage otherwise you would love the drive of reborn after corolla and city.

What is the highest mileage I would get from reborn ?

Auto 8km/l give to take. Manual about 9-10km/l and depends upon driving style.

It is a great car, looks nice and drives great too. Depending on the age and maintenance status of the car, one of the engine mounts located on the driver side wears off fairly early and needs to be replaced. Many old civic reborn have a leaking power steering pump. If you drive on broken rough roads, the suspension wears off much earlier compared to a corolla and OEM genuine suspension parts are very expensive so many people go for scrapyard or aftermarket new parts, which in most cases have a much shorter life and poorer quality compared to honda genuine.

Talking about negatives coming from a 2012 Corolla, you will notice greater road and ambient noise, stiffer suspension, lower ground clearance, and slightly less trunk space. Depending on how your driving style is, stiffer and lower suspension may also be taken as positives.

The mileage varies greatly depending on driving style. Car is great at highway speeds. RPM is around 2.2K at 120kph and fuel average goes around 15L/km or even higher. However, in stop and go traffic, I think the average is around 8-9L/km.

My main problem with my car is that I don't get the feeling of car its just like I am sitting on rikshaw (Suspension the city is just useless). I regret selling my corolla and moving to City.
I hardly drive car, they are driven mostly on weekends around 100 km.
Keeping in my mind the points you mentioned regarding the leaking power steering pump and the engine mounts. Dont this issue get resolved or these issues are re-occurring.

Other than the Average, did you face any major issues with the car, like the power steering issue ?

I owned a Reborn Prosmatec for two and a half years. Average was around 9km/l in Karachi. Also had to replace the driver's side mount, power steering pump and serpentine belt tensioner - each of these are pet issues with Reborn. It also has poor ground clearance, stiff suspension and not too great interior and trunk space.

But it really is very nice to drive, I loved it, and to this day I really really regret selling it.

bro its a costly car. in terms of fuel consumption. i sold my 2012 corolla and was looking for something in auto . i bought the steermatic honda city 1.5 its amazing in drive and avg is around 10 11 .

i was moving on reborn but i didn't because in my appartment therr are guys having 2 reborns they always keep crying for its avg. they are getting 7 km per liter and max with octane bosster its 8 km per liter. so my suggestion stick to 1.3 cc or 1.5 cc . try honda steermatic city or move to corolla 1.6 gli auto.

Wont get a Honda Steermatic in a good condition, agar mil b gye to asking price is more than 14.

I am in the market looking for a civic too, I plan to let go my 2019 Alto AGS and replace it with a reborn Civic.

The cars are aged and in very bad conditions, the cheaper ones require 50-80,000 on maintenance to restore the car to its esteem.

Good cars are either showered, painted repaired that I dont mind, but the asking price in karachi is touching 1.9-2.2 million (2010/2012)

Some times I think the demands are too much, but then what else do you get ?

Earlier i assumed my Alto could fetch 1.5-1.6 million and il add 100,000, but I guessing otherwise now.

i agreed. i bought steermatic 2 weeks back. its trouble free car means no work

reborn was getting in 13.5 for 2007 model full showered non accident. full option one but didn't opt due to fuel milage and parts issue.

alto is good car but one who have driven sedan will not enjoy the small alto car.

in 1.5 M either you can take a 660cc car or you can get a sedan. Spending 1.5 to 1.6 on a sedan will be good. This is what I think, everyone have their own opinion.

Lol I can relate to that. 8th gen Civic would feel a lot better than city in every aspect except for fuel average. The suspension is stiff and hard but not like City.

Engine mount, power steering oil leak, and belt tensioner issues are pervasive but once you fix them right to the original spec, the issue does not pop up for a very long time. I remember I fixed the power steering issue in 2016 and haven't experienced it till now. I have a 2011 non oriel prosmatec. We are the second owners since 2011, bought it when the car was just 11K km driven.

In Oct 2020, the suspension was making all sorts of noise and needed a major overhaul. Only the parts cost alone was 90K. All honda genuine parts bought myself from nasir motors in saddar. Now the car drives like new.

Yes, that's the dilemma. Smaller cars have gotten very expensive.

I dont consider Alto AGS a car actually its a luxury which someone can have to teach driving for women at home and very small drives.

The car isn't capable of being driven on hiways.

So for that much money a sedan seems to be a better option.

Yes, that's the point. Most cars available in the market have alterations, jugaars to fix.

And this car despite being available at the price of a hatch back. Can be a little heavy on maintenance. But once maintained properly. Definitely more durable then hatchbacks avaliable for similar price.

I have seen people argue about the fuel average being 8kmpl. I have yet to find a city AT owner getting more that 9/10 km in city traffic driving.

8 or 9 is okay considering the pleasure drive i suppose.

That is true. My car too is 50K driven. Bought it when it was 11k driven in 2011 and all the driving has been done by myself. Major reason for low mileage being I used to drive a jdm alto in the early days and have been out of country for a long time. The car is great and up to oem spec mechanically, major work done by yours truly as DIY but the sadly the body is not original anymore. Had a mishap 8 years ago in 2012 when the car was newly bought and so now the left front fender, front left door, and left rear fender have been repainted. So a mechanically good car but showered lol

Showered / Painted repaired isn't a big of a issue unless you find something is being hidden under paint. (Policade)

A mechanically decent car is enough for such a age, especially Civic.

100% bumper to bumper cars and mechanically messed up cars are much big of a hassle and people are asking beyond 2.3 million for those.

I have come across a pretty decent car seemed in A1 condition mechanically. The car is almost showered, went to check it out on Sunday the guy asking 20.1 said he had offers worth 19.25 and would let go for 19.50.

I called him on Wednesday and he says now my final is 20

So basically, A well maintained reborn will not be much pain in the back regarding the issues?
