Honda Civic X cruise turns off by itself

Honda Civic X 2016 gets its cruise turned off by itself, even without applying the brakes. Can someone please help identify what could be the reason. Had a local mechanic check everything but he failed to find out the issue causing this. The frequency of it happening reduced when he took out and reconnected the brake switch. But the issue is still here.

what do you mean by turns off itself - it stops maintaining speed and cruise light stays on? or the cruise light turns off as well?

Thanks for responding back. Yes the cruise light also turns off. Just like it happens when you apply brakes during cruise, but in my case it happens without applying the brakes.

hmm - send a pic of the light under discussion, because cruise light shouldn't turn off even when brakes are apllied - the cruise speed 'set' light should turn off.

also, any error codes?

Sorry for the late response. Yes the cruise main light stays on but the cruise set light turns off and cruise disengages itself. Photographs attached.

Wear seatbelt and check if it disengages then. Most probably it's due to not wearing the seat belt.

I have the same problem.. it cancels the cruise by itself, then when I press the up button sometimes it reapplied cruise sometime set and up buttons don't responds... it happens randomly. Got it checked at dealership on obd but they said button is faulty but they didn't had the part available

Check with seat belt clipped in. As brake hold also doesn't work without seat belt clipped in.

Have the same problem initially happened sometimes but now increasing in frequency. Honda says all ok and haven't been able to fix.

This has happened with me second time today in this month. I have 2018 model and not happened in past 6 years. I have found something on the reddit and hope it is true since it is a very good safty feature:

"Cruise control turns itself off when there's any loss of traction as a safety measure in 10th and 11th gen civics. When VSA detects wheel slippage (hydroplaning) cruise will be cancelled as to reduce chance of an accident."

One thing I have noticed in both occurrences is that either it happened on a turn or on a slope, so seems like a VSA feature.

Dear fellows,
My Civic 2017, done 30k is giving problem in RPM, when going through any underpass, it goes up , stays there n then suddenly comes down, pick has also decreased.
I got it tunned n throttle body also cleaned, but still same problem. Mechanic coosolve problem.
Any idea wats going on n where to go to fix the problem?

Culprit is the ECU. I had the same issue and lasted little over a year and multiple visits to Honda South and Khair Karachi they couldn't diagnose as it was a random occurrence that got worse over time and eventually the accelerator also failed for 2-3 seconds twice in the last week, that is when I finally decided to seek help from someone other than Honda.

Took it to a workshop who's owner also had a Civic for sale, they swapped the sensor on the brake peddle, didnt fix, then swapped the ECU and it was fixed. Tried repairing my ECU but it completely died in the process, then got a kabli replacement for 1.25lac and been almost 10 months problem has never recurred also since the japani ECU installed fuel average seems to have improved.
