Honda D17A swaps details and parts

Honda D17A was a swap i did on my hyundai excel 1993 which was in a very bad condition with reference to engine.
Rest the car was so perfect to b run for more 20years..so i swapped it with a Honda D17A manual tranny SLW gear and D17A jdm with orignal wiring and a normal ecu .. Latet i bought a D17A manual ECU which most of the people dont havr or dont know much details..as i did research on honda D17A so came to every single answer for it..

Plus only the engine installation was done by mechanic in Saddar rawalpindi ..as per my demands he installed the engine.. And it took 4 days to complete the installation as per my satisfaction (Mashaa Allah)

So here i am starting a new discussion topic for those who meed help regarding a honda engine..or i can provide any info part numbers,real ecu part numbers for any honda engine specifically,which no one guide me correctly..

So right now u can come up to me for any questions and ill try not to dissapoint u and ill try by all means to provide the right information which i personally couldnt find on google or any blog or any forum before..

Mine is Honda D17A fron civic ferio 2002 RS witha manual plw/slw transmission and on orignal D17A wiring/engine harness and running on a stock D17A ecu M/T manual transmission

Ecu part number i have is 37820-PLR-J13
FERIO COMES WITH PLR ECU
J01-13 for manual transmission and J83-84-93-92 and j50+ for auto tranny

And 37820-PSA COMES ONLY IN honda STream rn1 2000 auto transmission ecu,s

..here u can ask much questions..

As i was unable to get the right ecu codes for d17A

Aoa dear, nice to see this thread as i have also installed D17A recently in my Honda Civic 95 and i have also faced alot of problems. I live in islamabad and swapped my engine from rawalpindi. The problem which i am facing rite now is that my installer installed Ecu of pakistani manual civic vti which is creating a bit problems and my plan is to shift to its original ecu and for that i will need your help. I will go to sadder to change that ecu after two days.
Could you please tell me how much mileage you are getting per liter. I was getting 12.8/L without ac and with ac i think its around 10, which is a bit low and with the change in ecu i am expecting a little bit higher mileage.

D17A manual ecus are
37820-PLR-J01 TO 37820-PLR-J13

PLUS D17A we are purchasing over here in pakistan is from a honda Stream Rn1 which only comes in automatic transmission with the ecu 37820-PSA-J52,53,82,83,92,93

IVE SEARCGED EVERYWHERE BUT ATlast found a honda part nunber website where i found correct ecu part nunbers

So it is hard to find a D17A manual ecu here ...so better to find auto one to get right performance and
U r getting good mileage right now as ur engine is running on D16 ecu might be.

So pleased to find this discussion and your generous offer to help out others going down the same path. To cut a long story short, my beloved first car - a 2005 Civic VTI Oriel UG manual - bought new and driven lovingly for 7 years got stolen and remained a memory for 8 years, until it was found recently. Given my attachment, I wanted to restore my first love and keep it manual. The best engine option I had was a clean D17A from Japan through contacts at Shershah, Karachi. Now that it's here and being installed, I'm curious to know how I'll manage to bolt my manual transmission to an engine that came out of an automatic. I really do want to tap the 140hp the Japanese models had, which is ten more than I had from my D16W9. Do guide me, please. The engine has come with its automatic model ECU. I'd also like to know what other factors I'll have to keep in mind for this engine swap to work out perfectly, such as the requirement for NGK FJR-6J11 spark plugs?

Swapping transmission is no problem to worry about. You can install your old transmission on.
Yes you do need manual ecu.
Other then that you're good to go.

Can we consider this engine for Civic1988 (bolt on) with existing manual transmission. I need to change the power steering system too. Kindly guide. What is the procedure/cost for change of engine number on the registration book. I am from Rawalpindi.

Minor adjustments and it will fit right in.
Not sure about rawalpindi, in lahore you need purchase slip and engine number updating form.

I NEED EXACT ECU FOR THIS ENGINE. PLEASE ANYONE WHO HAVE ECU FOR THAT?
THERE IS ALREADY ECU INSTALLED PART NUM 37820-PSA-J52 & MY ELECTRICIAN SAYS HE HAS PART NUM 37820-PLR-J13 . IS THAT COMAPTABLE
