When I went about looking for a hybrid, Prius was the only option but it just didn't make economical sense. You have to be running a public transport business on Prius to bring it anywhere close to justifying it's price tag.
Then I found a couple of FIT on Pakwheels. Like most of us, I did some googling and liked the averages mentioned there. Spoke with some of the sellers and finally test drove a few. They were mostly over 60,000 km so decided that I was not going to pay 1.6M for a small car that had already aged. Luckily the guys at mycar dot pk informed me they were to receive one repaired FIT that had only 13,000 km on it. By the way they are one of the few dealers that will show you the original auction sheet that is verifiable online. So I went and gave it a spin. The car was as good as new and I went ahead and bought it. The trunk was repaired as per the auction sheet but the Japs had done a great job coz I couldn't notice any imperfections.
Registered the same day, I took it on the motorway the same week in early July. In fact the final destination was beyond Mansehra with 3 people and full load in the trunk. A month later we took it again to Islamabad from Lahore and enjoyed it thoroughly. The car does mostly school duty in Lahore and the usual family chores but the drive is such that one wants to drive it everyday. The drive is comfortable and you tend to forget that you are in a budget hybrid but the suspension on the back may remind that to you on bumps.
Here are the numbers:
Total km done since owned= Over 8000
Fuel avg in the last 6000 km = 15.5 km/l
City running with avg speed 27 km/h:
Avg in Summers with AC = 16.5 km/l
Avg in Winters without AC = 17.5 km/l
On the highway with avg speed 110 km/h:
Avg in Summers with AC = 20 km/l
Avg in Winters without AC = Not tested yet
Some pictures are attached that I took yesterday to share with you Pakwheelers.
I hope this helps you decide.
Have fun!
