Well... It may be sometimes hard and tricky to find the differences, however, some videos are available on Youtube to differentiate between original engine oils Vs. Fake engine oils, and their packings.
Still, as good practices, I would recommend following:
1. Always buy from authorised dealers, distributors, wholesellers, etc. of oil companies!
Almost all the reputed engine oil companies have their official websites, some are International, some are local and International both. Go to the official websites, and find the details of their official and authorised dealers, distributors, wholesellers, etc. in your area. Most of the websites have details available, and clearly mentioned on the websites.
If no such details are available, then their helpline Nos, UAN Nos., email addresses, chat option, etc. are available. You can directly contact them in any robust way and raise your query. They would be more than happy to assist and guide.
2. Second option; always buy or change engine oil from authorised, and especially Company Operated and Maintained Petrol Pumps which have Engine Oil change stores at them.
I hope, it helps. Thank you.
