Hello Machimo, what performance engine would fit in a toyota vitz without much alterations?

Machizmo : Dude tell me how much would a d15b 3-stage vtec would cost me. Currently I have the stock d16y6 with auto transmission that comes in 2000 civic vti. How much would it cost to swap. Can it be done in under 15k?? Because auto is more valuable than manual ??

Goal would be something with decent power, and no mount alterations. Needs to be a daily runner too!

Something fun to ride but not for racing.

1nz-fe or 2nz-fe are your best bets. Minimum alterations. Would set you back anywhere in the range of 70-90K. Good power to weight ratio with decent and minimal hassle upgrade. Anything else would require customization of mounts and so on. Cheers!

@ FaiezCivic: Two things determine the price of a used motor....

1. Approximate age of the engine calculated from the year the donor car was in production.

2. Demand in the local market.

The 1NZ-FE / 2NZ-FE are both newer in terms of age and have more demand in the local market instead of a 4A-GE. If hp figures were used to evaluate the price tag, then the new civic's engine wouldnt cost 200K+ in comparison to an H22 available for literally half the price.

@ shezyworld: The one mentioned in this thread has been disposed off. I have another one on its way from Japan alongwith some other performance engines. Will take about 8-12 days to get here.

Suzuki J18A Engine Package JDM Spec J18A twin-cam (or DOHC if you prefer) with manual tranny also self imported straight from Japan. JDM J18s churn out 135ps at the crank with lots of low down torque. A pair was imported. One of them was transplanted in a Suzuki Swift here in Islamabad a couple of years ago and turned out to be a joyride straight from hell. A very fun motor for a lightweight Suzuki sedan or hatch.
