Hello guys,I am going through a very serious phase nowadays with my honda civic 2007. Last week when i was on my way to islamabad, its steering suddenly became extremely hard. I got a mechanic in islamabad and it was diagnosed as a power pump issue. I got the power pump changed and deive back around 200 kms. It was ok all around but suddenly i faced another issue. When the car is cold, the power steering works well. But as the time passes, you can say after the drive of about 35-40 minutes, suddenly steering gets stiff again. When i put my car on P, and accelerate it, the steering works fine again. But after stopping the accelration, it starts getting harder again.

Some body has told me to get the air removed from the system. And some body said its a power steering rack issue. Please guide me if anybody has faced the same issue or if some one can guide me about this problem.

@Xulfiqar Bhai, you’re a lifesaver.

Got the Red TF drained from Honda and swapped it with Honda’s PSF. All the noise it used to make is gone, it made some noise when I parked on the muddy surface and turned the steering while idling but i think that’s fine, can live with it.

I was thinking to change it to EPS, but I will keep it as is - at least for now.

If your alignment is ever bad that you have to constantly force the car to drive straight, that will burn up the oil which then hurts the pump and rack,

Dont ever drive a power steering car with bad alignment for more than a few kms.

there was the same issue in my reborn model 2010
i had changed lot of power steering assembly i guess exactly cant recall the name at last i installed eps steering system that work quite well for like 5-6 months after that i sold the car otherwise every other i saw oil dipping in the garage

Looks like you hired dumbasses and not actual mechanics, its a basic hydraulic loop, any massey tractor mechanic can also diagnose and repair it.

Yes really, a hydraulic power steering system is basically a plain hydraulic ram with two pressure sides controlled via a valvebody. (Your valvebody is the rotating piece on the pinion while kisaan bhai moves levers)

Its still the same high pressure power side and low pressure return/supply side.

Its tested the same way too, by finding air leaks in the return/supply and pressure leaks in the power side.

Xulfiqar bhai i swapped japanese R18 engine in my reborn which didn't had hydraulic power steering and needed EPS .... so i installed EPS and its working great but there is problem which electricians here in quetta can't diagnose.... the EPS runs flawlessly for 4-5 days and then suddenly stops working and steering gets hard .... to solve, i have to take out the grips/wire harness/clips from EPS ecu and then reconnect which solves the issue and the EPS is again good for same 4-5 days .... When the issue arises, the obd scanner shows some code but the code is gone when doing the said TOTKA .... can you suggest what might be wrong? Thanks

Stop doing the totka and read the actual code, itll help to guide you in the right direction.

Btw

Im sure the japanese r18 has the hydraulic pump mounting points, you may need to tap them but the casting bosses should be there.
