Honeymoon Trip to Nathia, Khanian, Shogran

Need Suggestions and itinerary for my honeymoon trip!

Hey there,
I am getting married in november. I am planning to visit northern side. Since its the honeymoon trip and i will be along with my newly wed wife that's why i will prefer to spend more time together instead of traveling here and there. I am a beginner in traveling plus have not seen the northern side much.

Places I chose:
Nathia, Khanian, Shogran.
3 places with 4-5 nights. Please suggest me where should i spent consecutive 2 nights from the above places.

Hotels i Chose:
Nathia: Elite Hotel/ Alpine Hotel
Khanian: Arcadian Riverside
Shogran: Arcadian Shogran

Now i need your help to design this when to leave from lahore so that i reach the khanian before evening.

My Plan based on my Experience:

Day 1: Leave early from Gujranwala after fajar so that we may reach there till max 5 pm. Or should we leave in night?
Remaining time will be spent there in khanian

Day 2: Travel to Shogran in arcadian. Spent the time there and visit the nearby areas.

Day 3: Travel to Nathia and check in to Alpine Hotel.After rest we will explore the valley.

Day 4: Probably we may move to hotel Elites this day.

Day 5: Travel Back to Gujranwala

I am planning this on my own. I am not contacting the tour planners as it will ease us to spent the time in our way. We can eat our own choice things so thats the plan. Please review and help the beginners.

Arcadian Khanian is good but might not be accessible, totally depends on weather at the time. Arcadian shogran is also good. I wouldn't recommend hotel elites, dirty rooms and terrible service. Drive up to summer/green retreats hotel next to alpine. Alpine looks good to but never been there.

If you are driving directly to shogran/khanian then leave early morning around 3-4 am so you avoid the rush starting from havelian to mansehra, take the motor way and hazara express way all the way to havelian.

It might be cold in khanian and shogran so make sure you pack warm stuff, they don't have proper heating and it gets really cold at night.

Make sure you do advance bookings.

Answering your question where to stay 2 nights totally depends on where ever you feel most comfortable.

If I were you I'd stay in nathiagali the whole time and do hiking / trekking like mushkpuri top and dunga gali to ayubia depending on weather of course, or rather just stay at the hotel spending time with my partner chatting or watching movies and hoping and wishing for a lot snow.

@centos thanks for your suggestion. I have not seen khanian and shogran are they worth to visit in the last week of october? Or should i spent the all 4 nights in nathia? What do you say?

@tintin1 many thanks for your valuable suggestion. Khanian and shogran are just 2 hours drive from nathia thats why i added that in my plan. Have you been there in khanian and shogran (arcadian) how will you rate that place?

first i will clarify that Khanian/Shogran are not at all at two hours drive from Nathiagali, it is completely wrong estimate wherever you have got it.. you should estimate atleast 4-5 hours drive..

considering days you have in hand and weather, i would suggest you should plan your days in Nathiagali and its surrounding for trekking and a visit to Patriata particularly for Chairlift as well as a trip to Islamabad to have some good eating out like Monal.. it will give some leisure time together and you will have more options to visit in these days.. good luck!

Thankyou Bro! Actually i got the estimate from google . So may be you are right. Bro please just let me know one thing, Have u spent the time in khanian and shogran arcadian? I have heard its best for the newly wed couple as its too quite and loving place. Thaty why i was just curious about the place if someone has personally spent the time there he can guide me.

Farooq bhai one more thing is i cant drive by myself to nathia as i have never been there. In that case i have 2 options. I drive my car to the islamabad spent a night there in some cool place with car parking. Then on second day i left my car there and take a car to nathiagali. And then pick back What do you say about this? Or should i take the car from lahore ? Do you know any places where can i park my car?

Day 1: Instead of check-in to khanian directly, i stay at nathia alpine hotel it would be less hectic

Day 2: Move to khanian

Day 3: Shogran

Day 4: back to nathia and spent a night there

Day 5: back to lahore

Quite and secluded places are not for everyone. If you are hesitating driving to Nathiagali then I'd recommend not to go to khanian or shorgran.

There is nothing of interest in khanian that I know of other than Arcadian. I have been there, it's a good hotel with nice location right next to kunhar river and the scenery is beautiful.

Drive up to shogran is scary to some and thrilling to others. Doesn't matter if you drive there yourself in own car or in a jeep, some people love it and some scream and some recite aytul kursi all the way to the top.

Arcadian shogran is pretty good, They have small cabins at distance from each other, good scenery and plenty of green open space. But it's not for everyone. It's situated away from the main bazar and all other hotels. It's nice and quite but some might find it scary too.

And yes, drive from nathiagali is not 2 hours. That's what it takes to get to abbotabad these days then it takes another 3-4 hours to kawai. So farooq is right, it'll take 4-5 hours. Road from havelian to naran is in bad shape, avoid driving at night on these roads because everyone here drives on full beam and there are no road marking on the road.

i havent been to these hotels but have visited places several times.. hotel in Khanian is across the river which looks a good place in summer but it would be completely different around your dates due to complete off season, short day lights, cold evening/nights.. so to me it might not be that attractive plus there are no gehma gahmi which I prefer to see at some level.. similar case will be in Shogran as well..

regarding driving, if you cant drive to Nathiagali then forget about going to Shogran driving yourself.. however it is not that difficult driving to Nathiagali.. and you should take your car and you will enjoy it..

Just one question from you people i have honda city 2006 well maintained 95k driven. Will it be good enough for this trip or i should get the car on rent with driver.

Should i need to replace the clutch plates too before trip i replaced them around 60k now its 45k more driven but running fine and smooth.

That you need to get checked. It will struggle climbing if clutch plates are bad. Try climbing some steep slopes in shopping malls basement parking or some other place. I had a cultus that was fine on plain roads, it even went to murree but I could feel it struggling, then it refused to climb when we got to nathia gali. It had worn out clutch plates.
