How Automatic Radiator Fan works , (Info required)

Hi all
I want to know how automatic radiator fan works , specially in winter , in summer many people keep fan direct , but in winter mostly people keep fan automatic (highly recommended)
i need information regarding Automatic radiator fan system.
for example: If outside atmosphere is 10 degree centrigade , we have non-stop drive for atleast 15 km on highway. Car is in good condition with excellent engine and radiator system.
1-how many time fan will turned on?
2-for how many seconds/minutes , fan will run in one term?
share ur knowledge plz

Its depends upon when the engine reaches to its optimum temperature. there is a thermostat valve in water pipes of the car. when the car heats up the water heats up if the water heats up thermostat valve automatically opens up. the fan is connected to thermostat valve so when thermostat valve open, the fan will starts automatically.

thanks bro , u mentioned automatic radiator fan system . its mean it may start several times for different time duration according to engine temperature. i.e may be twice time just for 30 seconds each or 5,6 time for 50 seconds each. or may be do not even for single time.

Yups! its very use full for engine bcoz in winters engine cant reach to its optimum temp.

the coolant thermostat will ensure the engine reaches and stays at optimum temperature, the cooling fan if electric or hydraulic (old 1JZ-GTE) will be switched on by a separate thermoswitch in the cylinder head or radiator depending on design and if a clutch fan is used it is dependant on the heated air from the radiator to engage.

the question of how many times it turns on while driving along on the highway with ambient temperatures of 10 degrees celcius. In a good system - never as the air wind is quite ferociously ramming through the radiator cooling it down. Fans are used to pull air when the vehicle is stationary.

^ there is a thermocouple thermometer installed very similar to one in iron. this works on 82c as 82c is the optimum working temp for engine.below this temp it dosent opens the valve to radiator and the water keeps circulating inside engine.after this it opens the valve to radiator.in radiator if the water tends to keep its temp below 82c the thermostat will not turn the fan on.if it goes above it the fan will be on.
