How can I check the Mileage of my car is genuine

Dear Friends,
I have just purchased Honda city 2011 basic variant, can anyone please tell me that how can I check/verify that the mileage of my car is genuine?

Step 1: Fill up your tank.

Step 2: Reset the odometer.

Step 3: Use the car for some time, for 50 KMs or 100 KMs or till half tank.....doesn't matter.

Step 4: Now go to refill the tank.

Step 5: When the guy stops filling up the tank to full, check the LITERS on their screen. Suppose it took 10 liters of petrol to fill up the tank, and ur odometer shows 120 KMs, divide this odometer reading by the Liters and u will get the exact reading. (in this case, it will come out 12KM/L)

Step 6: Reset ur odometer and repeat the above 5 steps for 3 times to get the mean value of your mileage..

On local cars its not that easy to check.
If you are really an expert you can judge by looking at the cars condition.
Other then that look for plastic parts near the speedometer and steering column. If they are loose or have gap is a clear indication that it was opened.

Some common tricks for Honda is to check the H logo on the steering wheel if its yellow then garaunte that the mileage is above 75k

If you have some money, you can have a mechanic who turns back meters for a living check your car. They can tell right away, but they aren't always accurate. You can judge mileage with the condition of the seats, dashboard, accelerator pedal, gear shifter, headlights and taillights, engine bay, and wheels.
