Plenty good points for corolla 1992 identification already mentioned above. I did import one in end 1991 called 92 model) and another one end 1992 (called 93 model). Both came with 4EFE engine, DOHC EFI, 1330cc, 99hp! In those days these only came with 4 speed manual gear. 5 speed was available with 1500 or 1600cc engine. But duty structure was such that no one imported corolla with engine bigger than 1.3. Duty went up significantly and people preferred Toyota Corona or Accord in 1600cc bracket.
In late 1991 model, only option available was AC and power steering. Power windows or central locking were not an option in the 1.3 litre version. It was the base model in Japan. 1.3 version was available in 3 versions, DX (base) LX midlle range and XE top of range in 1.3. By late 92, power windows, central locking and power mirrors were included in options. Also option was ABS and I got that in Corolla 1992! First ever in Pakistan. Sold that car in 2016 I think after 24 years with original engine and maybe 240+K on odo.
These Japanese 1.3 had tachometer in them which was not seen in Pak 1.3 model.
In Islamabad and RWP, there were very few of that gen imported brand new at the time, less than 10-12 I think, coz it costed lot more than local ones. So if there are any in market which have 1.5 or 1.6 engine etc they must have been imported as used or re-conditioned cars or under amnesty etc much later on.
By end 1993, Indus started building local corolla in similar shape with 2E SOHC carburetter 12valve engine (72hp). It had 5 speed gearbox though, both engine n tranny were from previous generation. Later they introduced the 1.6GLi with 112hp.
