How frequently should I change my car's battery?

As the title states, how long should I stick with a certain battery before replacing it?

Furthermore, do you guys have any recommendations for which brands to get (and if possible, from where in Karachi)?

It should last around 4 years if you use good electrolyte and if the alternator is good

In 2-3 years of your battery you shouldn't have any problems. AGS has worked the best for me. Wouldn't recommend volta or osaka. If you want a maintenance free battery then get either Hankook or bosch.

volta dry battery(so called) has served me in khyber for 4 years and still has enough juice to kick start the car in first self.its getting a bit weak now,might need change up in coming winter though

mY four years old AGS is still running in a friends manual corolla. I replaced it at 3 years because of auto transmissin.

4 yrs min with proper maintenance .. AGS and EXIDE are good batteries .. batteries with more plates and putting a battery with respect too electrical load always give more service

It depends on several things, like how well you have maintained it, the condition of your charging system, is it under heavy use etc

A good indicator is when you start having starting troubles or you feel that the self starter is weak or that it is taking longer to start. Even then the battery will last some time(few months). But if winter is about to come you really don't want your battery in this weak condition. This is the time you replace it.

You should check your battery voltage at idle with full load, my batteries wouldn't last and after this test I diagnosed that the alternator needed repair

In my case it is more of a maintenance problem. I dont check the electrolyte and when I do(after months) it is dried up.

my experience with different batteries

excide plates dissolved in a year literally

fk it lasted about 3.5 years but had the problem of discharging in just 2 days if car wasn't used also its electrolyte dried quite often

ags 3 years and still going strong, the 80 something amp in my 2.0d saloon(after standing unused for a week) still had enough juice to jump start an 3.4l prado(without 2.0d saloon's engine running) and it took 3 long cranks and by the sound of it i knew battery could do 3 more. also put one in my khyber last year(48 something number or amp) and my khyber gets mostly driven with less then idle rpm(when i've to grab some grocery at night, i'm sleepy, don't like the noise of the engine and shift up every 10kph, 4th gear at 35kph isn't a big deal) n head lights on but the battery doesn't give a problem in the morning.
