You should ask your mechanic why in the hell he removed the T valve. The engine needs to operatenon an optimum temperature which means that it needs to heat up and T stat valve ensures that engine is warm enough to operate on optimum temp by stopping the free flow of coolant or water in the system. If there is no T stat valve, the engine will stay cool and will not operate as it is designed to hence you will get poor mileage loss in power and eventually your engine will wear out. When there is no T stat valve, the water or coolant will keep the engine cool which creates condensation in the cylinders which mixes water and oil and kills you engine. This is what is happening with your car, it has started to eat oil.
