With Oil Filter 3.1 L
Without Oil Filter 2.9 L
Dry Fill 3.4 L

if i am not wrong Plz first clear, Do u need info about gear oil ??? or engine oil?? as ur title asking info for gear oil whereas discussion in the thread is about engine oil.

Ill suggest go to toyota work shop they know how much oil is required plus thr is a proper procedure for the gear oil change they no how to do it if its not done the right way ull end up damaging ur gears and cvt transmission is really sensitive so ill suggest go to the pro

Btw most toyota 3s people know jack S??t about cars if u dont believe me ask them what type engine and oil is needed in vitz 1.0 and belta 1.0 ?
Do ur own research and then go to 3S

I agree with this post.
Toyota's workshops may have good mechanics but taking their advice can be dangerous sometimes. Because when I took my 50K driven car to Toyota, they silly people poured 20/50 petron and claiming it’s the best toyota's oil for JDMs. I still feel bad about myself why I allowed them to pour this oil at that time. Anyway we all learn from our mistakes.

Ok, if I have this car and don't know how much gear oil to pour, then I simply buy 3 bottles (each 1L) of gear oil. First drain all the gear oil with help of worker/mechanic, clean/wash the gear box with kerosin oil to remove junk properly of previous oil. Let it "FULLY DRY" for 20~30 minutes and then close again. Pour 2 bottles of gear oil and check the level with the dip stick. If its low, then I used the 3rd bottle and keep checking it till the level become full. And after 3 bottles, still if the level is less, then I must buy another bottle and pour 100 ml by 100 ml and keep checking the level till its full.

read the dipstick itself, it will tell you the oil "grading" required, if it says toyota TIV - then dont use anything else than T IV or WS.

The usual full capacity of the automatic gearbox is about 8 litres, but a drain and fill will only be about 4 litres. The rest is trapped in the torque converter and the accumulators. You can change it by the cooler line flush method but it requires about 10 litres of oil.

if the stick says to use dexron 3 - then t-iv is not required, any dx3 will work. Dont use type A or F in it.

Thanks friend i find salutation on net 1.5 litter oil required for gear oil in vitz 1000cc in local oil change shop they pure 3 litter oil in gear box which damage its oil seal know i learn it but after little loss its my experience in our country Mechanics and oil changers are uneducated they have no idea of there work always they made more damage instead of repair so do little paper work on net and then go to the work shop its my several time experience thanks to all my friends who take interest in solving my prob regards

any automatic transmission is checked for oil level when hot only, secondly a simple drain and fill only is changing about 30~40% of the oil in the unit, the rest is trapped inside the accumulators and torque converter. - Still its not 1.5 litres on change, it does drain about 3 litres from the sump.

So as you said - before draining it out, first check the level, then replace only the quantity drained out.

If the sump was removed - be sure to only tighten it to specified torque along with a new sump gasket. Do not try to reuse the old one or apply RTV to the casing.
