How many valves per cylinder?

Can any one tell me that Suzuki Khyber has how many Valves in its 3-Cylinder engine? Tell me the same thing for Cuore. Also tell me that usually there are how many valves per cylinder? What is the affect of increasing number of valves per cylinder?

there can b as much as 4 valves per cylinder(2 intake 2 exhaust) and 2 r minimun... i think khyber nd coure have two valves per cylinder...
nd yes more valves makes breathing easier for engine so it enhances the performance nd fuel economy.

max up till today i have heard of volvo engine having 5 valves per cylinder & toyota 4-AGE is also 5 valve per cylinder

but about khyber 3 or 2 valves per cylinder

man V8
has 8 cylinders arranged in a v shape and share one single crank shaf
and valves depend on type of v8 amreican v8' from 1960's used to have 2 valves per cylinder

@ shiraz...r u sure 5 valves??...i dont think that a cylinder has odd no of valves....valves should alway be in even nos. per cylinder....it should b 2, 4 or 6 valves per cylinder....

^^^^ mini pajero has a 20 valve DOHC engine! it has 5 valves per cylinder, but i think the size if valves is smaller where there are more valves!

he is right 20v is 5 per valve

and khyber engine is 1000cc 3 cyl 6 valve ...2 per head

santro engine 1000cc 9 valve 3 per cyl

margalal 1300cc

Nope it does have 5 valves per cylinder. 3 for intake 2 for exhaust.

santro has 12 valves 3 valves per cylinder, no other 1000 cc cars have 12 valves in pakistan all have 8 valves

Suzuki Cultus EFI is having a 4cyl 16 valve engine.

V8 is an engine having 8 cylinders arranged in V shape
same is the case with V6 but with 6 cylinders,
Number of valves per cylinder varies from the year of manufacture like early engines were having 2 valves/cylinder (1 inlet and 1 outlet valve)

No , 2 is not minimum.....1 is minimum...
older engines used to have "ports" for exhaust and valve for fuel intake.....
there were 8valve v8s as well during 60s and 70s....in mustangs....

I also used to wonder why they dont have a 6 valve per cylinder engine...?
The answer is probably, because 6 cylinders increases the surface area too much , and that creates fluid drag and that decreases the efficiency as compared to a 4valve or 5valve...
In five valve layout, there are 2 big valves and 3 small ones....small ones i think for fuel and big ones for smoke....
the first car with 5valve layout was the ferrari f355......

Bugatti EB110 GT (one of my favorites) was probably the first to use 5 valves in 1990, though Peugeot GP racer is using the design in supercar racing in 1921.

1924 Bugatti Type 18 was probably the first to use 3 valve.

Honda S600 probably was the one to pioneer 4 valve in 1964.

Toyota adopted 4V from Lotus in late 1980's, I think.

The Original A4 was probably the first commercial car to use 5v in 1995, Mitsubishi and Yamha also did experiments on that.

Ferrari has admitted afterwards that 5v is too costly and complex and converted to 4V.
