My 2019 XLE has 28,000 miles on it. In mixed highway and city driving it gets in the low 30s MPG and on highways it gets over 40. This is about the same as it got when it was new. I am not having any issues with it. I always fill it with name brand gas from the majors.
When I brought the car to the dealer for routine six year service, the dealer proposed to do the following:
Although there was 8 mm left on the brake pads, he said that the calipers were not wearing evenly and that he wanted to adjust the calipers, perform sliding pin service and clean and adjust the brakes ($500) .
He recommended engine maintenance, throttle body cleaning, electronic fuel injection service and mass airflow meter service ($770).
Clean the air conditioner vents ($220).
I plan to keep the car for a long time and I am certainly not opposed to appropriate preventative maintenance. However, the proposal seems excessive (especially the cost) although I could be wrong.
While I change my own cabin and engine filters, and windshield wipers, that is about the limit of what I’m able to do myself.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has any thoughts as to whether what the dealer is proposing sounds reasonable and what is appropriate to do under these circumstances. Thanks.
