How should I increase the fuel efficiency of Toyota Aqua?

   Alhamdulillah I have purchased aqua 2013 model 2017 import
   73000 driven
   I have changed engine oil, oil filter, Air filter, transmission oil from Toyota workshop.
   Yesterday I went to Peshawar with speed varies 125 to 160 from mardan the distance which I have covered is exact 124 k.M.
2. 
   Average of my aqua is around 19 kilometre
   I don't know is it satisfied or not

   Question is how i should increase the average of my car?

19kmpl at long is more than good for aqua. Hybrids are more economical in city driving as compared to long.

Bro, in general and for motorways / national highways in Pakistan; the max. ideal fuel efficiency will be when, you will be driving at 110-115 kmph (or when speedometer needle is in the vertical middle position). As soon as you cross 120 kmph mark, fuel efficiency may start dropping.

Generally, fuel efficiency of hybrids is more in cities, than on highways. If you have got 19 kmpl with speeds 125 - 160 kmph, its extremely good in my opinion.

For best fuel efficiency and factors considering engine alone:

1. Always use 0w-20, 5w-20 or max. 5w-30, API SN / SN Plus / RC, ILSAC GF-5, Fully Synthetic engine oil, from any reputed brand. Just ensure that oil is 100% genuine and original. If you want best for bucks, go for either ZIC or Total Quartz 9000 Future series, and change oil along with genuine oil filter after every 5,000 Kms.
2. Clean air filter periodically, and replace it with genuine air filter after 10-15,000 Kms / when reqd.
3. Clean throttle body and plugs after every 10,000 Kms, and replace plugs when reqd.

one trick...change the tyres....that will have a huge effect...remember the tyres hold the key to everything...get some light fuel efficient ones and fuel efficiency will increase...

Have heard about fuel efficient engines (even know a little about some), but never heard about tires.

Actually the term fuel efficient made me a bit skeptical, as to what such tires may mean? The correct nomenclature "low rolling resistance tires" made it clear, and the term is self-explanatory.

Less rolling resistance between the tire and road means less friction, less heat generation & other losses; so good fuel efficiency!

regarding increasing fuel efficiency in your toyota Aqua i would like to share my experience aswell

i been driving toyota aqua since 2015 till present.
and have kept two model 2013 and 2015 (currently driving)

with reference to all other members feedback regarding 0w20 oil and low resistance tires etc all stand correct and should be followed to ensured maximum efficiency

regarding your fuel efficiency of 19km on motorway. it is a good average... i get 19 to 20 on lahore motorway with the same speed bracket of 120 to 125 average

keeping and driving 2 different model aqua's i noticed and like to share my experience for better mileage .

1. keeping the heater at optimum level usually at 24 degrees. as the heater requires heat from the radiator hybrid engine tend to shut down when under 50 kms... example if your temperate is above 26+ the engine will keep turning on to maintain heat in the cabin even if you have more than half battery.

2. outside temperature also plays an important role.. in winters in islamabad even without a heater i get around 24 km avg... however during my visit to lahore in feb-2019 i was getting 27km after getting a tank refill of normal petrol from TOTAL pump and resetting the ODO trip mileage... thus locality temperature plays an important role.

3. getting more average from TOTAL Pumps petrol as compared from other pump such as PSO and Attock . honestly not tried shell yet.

4. after getting your tank refill i would suggest to reset the mileage to 0 and try to drive the first 150km on battery keeping speed under 50kms... its get irritating when driving slow but i experienced 23.5 to 24.5 avg in winters and 24 km plus in summers plus your tires and brakes wear out less at low speed.

5. most Importantly.. hydrid battery fan need to be cleaned after 50000km plus depending on the dust conditions... this fan is located under the left side back passenger seat... this is a sensitive matter on how to clean this fan because if any dust goes inside the battery, this will affect the battery life as it will get more hot and warm and reduce life. using a blower will never be a good option and never listen to your mechanic ustaadi on this matter..

i would suggest all hybrid owner to view videos on youtube how to clean this fan and update them selves and then go to the mechanic to get it cleaned and under your own supervision..

If your main 12v battery is weak, this will also increase fuel consumption.

Some of the stuff in the car still runs off the 12v, and it needs to be charged too.

A good battery drains more slowly. However, a bigger battery may not be advisable since it may require more charging. This is open to trial and error I guess.

There is some method of checking the 12v battery in the information display screen.
