Six tourists die as car plunges into ravine

2013-06-27 03:20:28MANSEHRA, June 26: Six members of a family from Sargodha were killed when their car plunged into a deep ravine near Shogran, a tourist resort in Kaghan valley, on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Kawai-Shogran road when the driver lost control over his car at a sharp turn. As a result, the car skidded off the road and fell into a ravine, killing all the six family members.
The victims included Ahmad Khan, wife Nisreen, son Sohail, daughter Simra Perveen, daughter-in-law Umara Bibi and grandson Mohammad Ibrahim. The family belonged to Sargodha.
Local people shifted the bodies to Balakot civil hospital and then to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in Mansehra.
The Balakot police have registered FIR of the case.
Balakot police SHO told media persons that tourists to Kaghan valley should take full care while driving as the hilly areas was dangerous for amateur drivers. He said that Kawai-Shogran road was steep and dangerous and those not familiar with the area should take extreme care.
TOURISTS ROBBED: Armed robbers deprived three tourist families of cash, gold ornaments, cell phone sets and laptops at Saiful Muluk Lake on Tuesday night.
About 20 members of three families from Lahore were spending night in three tents at the bank of the lake when six armed men entered the tents and held all of them at gunpoint. They collected the valuables and fled.
Rana Moazzam lodged an FIR with the Kaghan police station, stating that the robbers took away whatever they possessed.
Mr Moazzam said that the robbers threatened them with dire consequences if they put up resistance. Kaghan police have started investigation after registering the FIR.
Meanwhile, a tourist boy drowned in Saiful Mulik Lake after he slipped into the water while strolling along its bank. The victim was identified as Mohammad Fareed, a resident of Khyber Agency. He was stated to be a student of eighth class.
Local divers and Naran police have launched efforts to recover the body from the lake.
