How to avoid body rusting?

I have always found your comments really helpful.
I was wondering if you would kindly comment on the following observation of mine
When we spray diesel on the undercarriage, it is supposed to stop rusting. The problem is that it may damage rubber seals and bushings etc. But these rubber components are much cheaper to replace/repair than reparing a rusted undercarriage. So, on the face of things, spraying diesel under the car saves more money than it costs in the form of damaged rubber components.

the car underbody is coated with a clear wax - oil is absorbed into the wax making it puffy and flaky - which then comes off exposing the bare metal which obviously rusts, if you wont use oil the coating remains intact.. just clean the car with a strong jet of water and then take some quality grade silicone oil and apply it to all rubber bushes with a sponge to make them like new again..

if the coating is compromised you can buy products to repair it - if its missing altogether, you can reapply a 3M rubber undercoating to the car - works beautifully

Do not wash, once a month is enough.
And Wax it thorougly, once or twice a month.

Yes, Plz Xulfiqar, I want the same answer, I have bought Margalla. When I open it for full service, I was amazed by the rust in some areas, I was thinking for a sucide bcz It was my two years savings. Now what should I do with the rust. Plz tell me something. I am from Islamabad and I have paid a lot to buy that car. The rust is not very active now.

as for applying oil/diesel ...id say NO to it
thanks to it...my rear shocks now squeeze ..i checked in from all sides..the reason ..applying oil/diesel after every wash ..

the 3M coating can be found at a paint supply store having 3M dealership - its a spray can and quite heavy too called 3m car undercoating, comes in clear and black finish.

As for your margalla - go buy some rust convertor and apply it to the areas - they will turn black or browinish black when dry - it stops rust dead in its tracks - then paint over it (very hard and porous which is good for paint) or if its inside somewhere leave it alone treated.

Finding utility things like these is really difficult in Isb / Rwp. Retailers even don't about such things...

apply anti rust chemical on undercarriage thoroughly and dont ever wash ur car with salty water. check before service ... karachi lies near sea so the moisture in atmosphere is dense no matter wat u do it will rust ....

the rust primarliy spread from fendor area as mud and water directly hit this area make sure to clean this part as often as possible ....... nd after driving into rain try to clean the mud or dirt coz after mud dried out it effects more thus rust more quickly as it sticks to it.....

nd having a diesel coat is another myth that we Pakis follows or same as that of new or burnt oil .....
