How to buy imported Japanese (JDM) Car in Pakistan
If you are looking to buy next car imported Japanese (JDM), this article is for you.
After Chevrolet Joy, I decided to buy a car which should not have resale, parts and mechanics issues. I wanted peace of mind. I didn’t want to do any experiment on my hard earned money.I wanted to buy next car automatic. It should be a budget car as well.
My ultimate choice was Vitz first generation 1999-2004 model. I purchased very neat and clean 2003 Vitz in white color. It was beautiful and solid car. In 2 years, I went to workshop to change electric parts in the beginning only.
I purchased it for Rs, 825,000 in 2017. I sold this car to Jamshed Khan from Bannu for Rs. 875,000 after 2 years. Jamshed khan told me that your model is 2000 not 2003. Car model 2000 is mentioned on drive side seat belt. The car model was increased at the time of custom clear due to its very good condition. The car data was also available on http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/q.html website. He sent me screenshots on my whatsapp. He said although legal documents are fine but i cannot buy 2000 model at price of 2003 model.
I returned the car and also returned full payment. I gave the Vitz car back to the dealer whom i was purchased. He returned it in Rs. 8,25000. I lost profit but it was good I didn't lose my money.
This was the beginning of cheating in Japanese cars which made me alert.
After Vitz 2000 first generation, I wanted to buy Vitz 2011-2016 third generation because Vitz 2005-2010 second generation has serious knocking and low fuel consumption issues. Due to knocking and low fuel consumption issues, Vitz second generation has low resale value.
I didn't want to buy Toyota GLi and XLi sedan due to bad fuel average. I didn’t want to impress people. I wanted to buy a car for my heart.
A sedan car is difficult to park and move in city. The cars were not comfortable as Japanese made cars are. Japanese car build quality is superior than local made. Japanese cars have more features and technology.
Pakistan Toyota makes cars for Pakistani people. Japan makes cars for Japan, England, America, Canada and the whole world. That’s why Pakistani made car cannot compete Japanies cars in terms of quality and features.
Honda cars are solid but their resale value is not as good as Toyota and Suzuki. Honda cars spare parts are also expensive.
Suzuki cars build quality is worse. Suzuki cars are teen dabba. Suzuki is looting its customers with both hands. The more strange thing is that Pakistani people are very happy with Suzuki cars 
I started to search Vitz 2013-2014 White on PakWheels and OLX. I visited to local car market in Multan.
Car Dealers are Fraud
Car dealers are expert in lie. Never trust them blindly. Must verify car body and documents details from authentic sources.
Car dealers lied about their cars. One dealer said his car is bumper to bumper genuine. I asked for its auction sheet. He showed me 4 Grade sheet of his car. Me and my uncle gave him 20 thousand advance by trusting him.
When i searched the car auction sheet on PakWheels database and had downloaded it. Its auction sheet was 3.5 Grade. Showered from both sides according to the auction sheet. When I showed it to a painter, the painter confirmed that car is showered from both sides. After a lot of effort, dealer returned 10 thousands only. He said I should be thankful to him that he is returning 10 thousands.
He showed me a Suzuki Every in white color. He told me that color of this white Suzuki Every was red at the time of import. We painted it from red to white color before registration. He showed me gates from inside where some color was red. I was astonished to see that what's happening over here
You should buy car from home through PakWheels or OLX. When you buy car from home, chances of being deceived are less.
Car Paint Tester Pen
I wanted to buy a guanine car. Car body and its paint is what you pay for. You can buy everything of a car from Engine to all body parts from market but you cannot buy body of a car form market.
To save my time and money of painter, I purchased car paint tester pen from PakWheels. It's imported and made in Poland.

The pen color tells that which piece of car is showered (by yellow color) , have poutine (red color), have a lot of poutine (black color), genuine (green color) and have no paint only iron (blue color).
I examined 6 to 7 cars at my friend painter's shop to make sure that it is accurate or not. It was 100% accurate. People were astonished by pen accuracy at the painter shop. The painter confirmed the pen accuracy. The dealers used to say that I give them my pen whether I buy a car from them or not.
I saw around 15+ cars . The dealers used to say that their car is 100% genuine with 4 Grade. When i inspected with paint tester pen and downloaded car auction sheet, the car was accidented with R Grade. One white Vitz 2014 looked like brand new. When I tested it with a pen, it's half roof was painted and half showered.
Patience is key to Success
In buying imported Japanese cars, patience is key to success. You must have to be patient to search neat and clean 4 Grade car.
Dealers said you have paint tester pen and auction sheet of the car, you cannot buy imported Japanese car. I said Insha’Allah I will buy it. I just have to search my required car with patience.
Owners and car auction sheet
During the Japanese car search, I have found that Pakistani imported Japanese car owners don't know much about their car auction sheet. The Pakistani Japanese car owners trust dealers. The dealers don't show auction sheet of the car to them. If they ask, the dealers show fake auction sheet to them. The owners do not verify their auction sheet. In result, the dealers sell them low grade and accidented R Grade cars to them.

Auction Sheet Grades
There are many auction houses in Japan. The car dealers buy cars from the auction houses of Japan and import the cars into their country.
A car comes to an auction house for sale. The auction house workshop examines the car. The workshop creates an auction sheet of the car which contains the car mileage, paint condition, dents on body, gates or diggi replaced, accident details etc information.
The auction sheet high grade means very neat and clean car. The car condition is very good. The low grade means car condition is bad.
Car Grades
Grade 5 to a car with exceptionally low mileage and in mint condition.
Grade 4.5 is in excellent condition, but can also have mileage of up to 100K.
Grade 4 is a good, solid car. Mileage is not an issue (could be low or high).
Grade 3.5 is similar to a grade 4 but may need more paint and panel work. Alternatively, it may have high mileage.
Grade 3 often has either serious paint and panel, or it has had a panel replacement somewhere. Grade 3 cars can also be basically grade 3.5s in terms of condition, but with very high mileage.
Grade 2 is reserved for vehicles in the worst condition. This does not mean that they are write offs, simply that they have experienced deterioration such that they are now in a very poor state. A grade 2 vehicle will often have corrosion, perhaps corrosion holes and other serious issues. If you are looking for “classic” and other older cars or older trucks and buses, you will find a number of them are grade 2.
Grade 1 Can be one of the following:
1). After market turbo / engine (some sort of serious modification to the original vehicle)
2). Transmission changed from auto to manual.
Grade 0, A, R, RA are repair history cars. The auctions definition of “repair history” is a car that has had an inside panel repaired in some way. This can range from extremely minor to major.
Pakistani dealers buy 3.5 or R Grade accidented cars which are cheap. They repair them in their local workshops. They reverse car mileage meter in thousands for example 12,000 to 30,000 for Rs. 500 only. They sell them on high prices by showing their fake auction sheets to their customers if they ask for auction sheet.
What should be Your Next Car Grade?
It’s great if you find 4.5 car Grade car with neat and clean body and engine. You should must look for at least 4 Grade car. It will have paint touching only on 1 or 2 pieces which is not a big issue. But 4 Grade car will not be showered or accidented. 4 Grade car has very good resale value.
You should not rely on auction sheet only. You should must test car body with paint tester pen or painter because anything can happen with car in Pakistan after import. The auction sheet tells car history of Japan not Pakistan.
Purchased My Dream Car
After 1 and a half month of search and rejecting 15 recondition cars, I purchased my dream car from home. It was Vitz November 2013 model. Neat and clean. Color was white. 4 Grade. I loved this car. I have been driving it for more than 2 months now. I am very happy with my purchase and enjoying its drive. No regrets.
No knocking issues. Fuel average is very good. I achieved 22km/l on highway from Multan to Dera Ghazi Khan. 2 People on board. Had achieved 19km/l with AC 2 people on board on the highway.
Have installed plug and play original white multimedia steering. The multimedia steering has volume up/down, tracks up/down and phone controls. I will also install Vitz 2017 speedometer which is also plug and play.
How to verify Japanese car
I would repeat that please never blindly trust your local dealer. The car dealer develops trust to loot their customers. Always must verify car details before making any deal or commitment. Save your hard earned money. Save yourself from speaking lie when you will sell your car in future.
