over the past few years the trend of importing a tsunami or water damaged car a.k.a water dipped has increasingly become a norm in the imported car market.People like to import the water damaged cars for a cheap price and and then restore them and sell them on the genuine untouched vehicle market value. which is a very unethical act and the buyer unbeknownstly buys the car from dealership or a seller haven been told it's untouched. sometimes even the seller don't recognize that they had a water damaged vehicle . Because of the restoration process is so good.
" SO IS THERE A WAY RECOGNIZE THIS DURING BUYOUT PROCESS WHEN LOOKING A CAR "

As other member has rightly said, in case of JDMs, buy any JDM which has a proper, verifiable auction sheet.

Then before buying, have the car properly inspected by some professional and expert, who is well versed with cars checking.

but what if they have restored it by a master denter and painter. and don't have any auction sheet. if a private seller non dealership is selling the car.

Stay away from imported cars without auction sheet. 99% of the time, they will be scrap cars restored which will have lots of issues.

If auction sheet is not available, and, there seem some sort of Fankarian involved; the solution is very simple and quite straight forward: Just do not buy that car at any cost!

You might have hard time maintaining it, and then selling it.

If a car has been auctioned via auction houses in Japan, then it is 100% guaranteed that it will definitely have an auction sheet!

Auctioning via auction houses, and no auction sheet available, this seems impossible to me!

For verification of auction sheet, you just need to have Chassis No. of that particular JDM car.

If car doesnt have auction sheet then 99% chance that it is accidented or water dipped. Water dipped cars can be only identified by interior panels and parts fitting it is very hard

Better buy from those who at least tell the truth even the car is accidented or water submerged.

I had prius 2017 i kept it for almost 6 years. It was gem of a car beautiful great performer each and everything was geniune during all those 6 years i never been to mechanic infact it was literally new even after 6 years. But at a time of resale i found in its auction sheet it was a water damaged car.
How can a water dipped car be so good and perfect.
