How to check orignal file

hello brothers,i want to buy car ,the owner has orignal book with him but he says the orignal file is in custody of excise and taxation department ,but as far i know both stays in custody of car owner,the car owner says the file of car older then 03 model have file in custody of excise and taxation dept,what u people suggest me,from where i can check the orignal file?

Its true the older car has original file in custody of E&T.

I have a 2000 VTI but its file is with E&T but that department is in the phase of returning the files to the owners. Last I heard that they had reached the Registeration series LRA-LRB-LRC

As far as i know the Excise dept started giving the original file in 2001...i hav 2001 vti and got the file with me. Do check.

The original File contain ALL original papers: the invoice from manufacturer, delivery challan from factory, incase of local car. - for imported car: customs bill of entry, bill of lading of shipping line, export certificate from country of export, exporter invoice - all originals in some cases, all papers are punched & emboss stamped

i have a querry. i want to buy a motor bike. it is karachi registered but transferred to lahore. the owner has original copy but duplicate file. its does not contain any custom documents or import receipts. he says that the original file is with excise in sinned. please guide me is it true or wrong.
