How to check whether the car meter is tempered or not?

No it cant be. My cuore's meter needle shakes sometime a bit because i had opened it for cleaning and change of its plastic mirror which was dull.

You can judge by the inner condition of car like steering wheel, Seats, Door panels, opening and closing of doors. brake,clutch and throttle paddle. and from gear knob too. Otherwise there's no such magic with which we can know whether the speedometer is tampered or not.

People just apply tukkas in guessing whether the meter is tempered or not. But I tell you meter reversal is a common and easy practice and can be done on any car easily. Someone told me that more than 75% cars on showrooms have their meters tempered. And interestingly it can be done from few thousands till a couple of 100 thousand kilometers.

check the screws. if their heads look worn(some people are careless enough to apply too much force) they have been opened

All of the above things can be replaced by older good condition ones sold in old parts market they are from stolen cars and are very good in condition so its easy to temper a car meter from 500,000 to 85000 and change all the things you mentioned no one can judge than. Also the condition of interior depends upon use it can happen that a 50k driven cars interior is better than a 20k driven some people even today have fx and 86 corollas with every thing original so you cannot tell by interior that a meter has been reversed or not.

I don't think the new digital meter reading tempering can be judged because to temper it you do not need to open the meter (as far as i know). The best thing to do is to ignore meter reading and check condition of car as if its meter was not working.

meter tempering is so common that when you take your care to sell it at showrooms, they don't even bother to ask or see the mileage (my personal experience) , they just see the condition and model of the car, coz i guess they'll eventually temper it according to the condition of the car !

i remember my cousin bought a khyber in good ol days with a mileage of 70k something. the owner seemed to be a decent guy
but one fine day, we find out oil change interval record left in car which was way above 1 lac something

just to sell the car quick and for couple of thousand rupees people would fall so low here

my vti was 195,000 kms but in excellent condition. people were turned off because of its mileage but i never touched its mileage.
(though in the end a dealer bought my car, got it cleaned inside out, reversed the meter and sent it for a good profit)

Now adays people even dont realize they are doing something wrong they just start to criticize government for everything but have they ever realized how bad they really are. I know a denter in Karachi who is a close friend he works for a car dealer its his routine to repair 15-20 cars in a month for him and he said to me that dont buy an old japenese cars that are being imported because 80-85% of them are accidented they repair them and sell them. He was quoting that car dealer got a belta for 7.5 lacs that had damaged front except engine spent 1 lac and sold the car to a multan dealer for 10.5 lacs. I just sometime wonder what we are doing we should all pray that allah gives us all hidayat and do some reham on us because our deeds deserve the worst punishment from him. May allah forgive us all Ameen
