How to Clean Fuel Injectors?

I am facing a little problem with my petrol injectors. The engine can't remain started at idle but with accelerator pressed, its ok. there's some stoppage in injectors.

Can anybody please help me in cleaning the injectors? Can we do it ourselves or have to go to mechanic?

Your question shows that you know nuthing abt vehicles, for you its better to go to a mechanic, b4 distroying your car further.

Once you see what is he doing, next time you can try by your own.

which car is it? what made you think that injectors are clogged?

better to consult some D.I.Y specialist in your city.
if couldnt get one then go to some good mechanic work with him, ask him and try to understand and explore more things.
fuel injectors are cleaned by liqui moly and if you add some additive it also works fine, only problem is to find a no.1 thing.
storm has done a diy of cleaning injectors of his VITZ, search his thread and u will find a way out of it.

i did it on my spectra at 40k kms. you can find a thread by right clicking on my nick and looking in the list of topics posted. but do make sure about the fault. i think its a faulty timing signal to the plugs.

Its a Vitz done bout 75k. It made me think so bcoz the problem started suddenly (without touching anything under hood) and seems so to me. It could be something else but i thought bout cleaning injectors as it won't harm the engine anyway.
I cudn't find anything under a list of ur threads. pls guide. Thanks

I think u took the car for a wash and water has peeped into some sensor or a plug wire. Please check it first.

I don't remember bout any car wash before that but i've checked wirings again which look ok to me. What's next?

Some sensor has got moistened. This si the only logical explanation in my mind and it is very common to have such problems in EFi cars when u wash the engines with an open heart the way they do it at service stations.

does your RPM go up and down (hunting) while on idle?

that would probably signal a bad or faulty air flow sensor.

No, the RPM doesn't go up and down on idle rather the car can't remain started on idle. it just goes off. it can only remain started if i press the accelerator and that too not all the times. sometimes, if i press accelerator after engine starts, it just goes off.

BTW, i've recently changed the fuel filter.

Vitz fuel filter also has some other electrical attachment with it. Probably the fuel flow regulator. Check if it is connected and working properly.

If the car starts & runs fine on a cold start but does what you describe on a hot start you should check that the air flow sensor is fit properly to the airbox, and that the wires are ok. my car did this when i was cleaning the intake manifold. reson is that the auto choke is active during cold starts but not on hot ones.

the more info you can give me the easier it woudl be to diagnose your problem.

if you recently had your fuel filter changed it is possible that it is not fit propperly (might be backwards) and therefore is hindering the flow of fuel to your engine causing it to run lean. does you check engine light come on after starting the car? (see pic below)

sounds more like a vacuam leak in the upper intake manfold area. check all pipes.

idle hunt is mostly caused by a throtle position sensor which can be adjusted a little to fix the hunt problem

best "local" way to clean an injector is
1. STP cleaner
2. remove & clean with petrol & brushes
3. replace

otherwise back in europe we'd use ultrasound to "crack" the deposits in the injectors and clean then out,... like the way they remove stones without surgery.

The fuel filter is installed fine as it was done a couple of months ago and the car's working fine since then.

The problem is same with cold or hot start rather a bit more at cold start.

No Check Engine Light on petrol at all.

very confusing. it seems to be a moisture/electrical issue. Your problem has me stumped, i'll have to bow out and let someone else have a try as i can't think of anythign else at the moment.

bro you can adjust idle a little using the a/f screw on the throttle body. also try cleaning the throttle body using a carb and fuel injector cleaner spray. if doesnt work adjust the throttle cable a little to get desired results nahin to jab aap lahore chakar lage mujhe nazar deekha deeeno bro. Almost all efi cars are the same in basics

Let me explain a bit more, it might help u in understanding the problem exactly:

The problem is only on petrol not with CNG.
Previously, i used to start my car on petrol in morning n drive few kms b4 converting to CNG and it used to take only one ignition key rotation to start the engine and stay idle on auto choke.
Now, the car does start on first ignition but immediately turns off. After giving it a few more tries, it remains start on petrol but can't move it as if i try to push the accelerator, it truns off. so, after few minutes (say 5 or more), it can be moved.
On the other hand, if i convert it to CNG immediately after first start, it doesn't trun off and behaves normally.

I hope i've explained enough this time to get help from u guys.
