How to clean intake manifold at home?

my civic 02' manifold is quite dirty like this

this was taken when i cleaned the throttle body. Should i go for cleaning it?

by the way, where does this sludge come from???

This mostly happens while using CNG as it contains a certain degree of oil from the compressor; less prone to accumulate this carbon in case of gasoline.

yes this is due to crankcase ventilation mostly

If this would be the case then the throttle body will also be in this shape. The greasiness there which is quite less and lighter can be said that its from the cng as the venturi is on top of it and in the intake, its from ventilation plus very little from cng.

to fully clean the manifold - you need to completely disassemble it, put the throttle body somewhere dry and safe. remove the fuel injector rail etc, and any accessories.

now get a large tub of hot water and lemon max with a round stiff brush and clean away.
