How to clean the engine bay?

Hi Pakwheelers,

I was wondering how to clean parts of engine bay of my cultus vxri 2007...

Guys at the suzuki station does not recommend to use water or diesel/patrol to be used for cleaning purposes, since the car has some sensors installed under the hood. They say clean it yourself by hand which is not possible.

I want to clean it so good that it looks as new as "applied for"... Obviously they clean it 'somehow' when it comes as applied for...

So any brilliant ideas guys?

what abt presurized air with some petrol

i already mentioned that.. they do not recommend...

But the point is, if we use patrol, is it going to damage the electrical circuits and sensors???

or is it just a taboo?

Although its not a wise thing to do and not recommended at all but One option is to wash the car before a long journey. locate the sensors. Wash with non pressurized water and use pressurized air to disperse water afterwards from sensors. Also do not run the car on cng immediately. Run on petrol for some time till it all gets dry. But again it can be risky.

@hassam....petrol doesnt damage the electrical circuits...

I think u can wash the engine bay normally and then instead of diesal spray or anything else, use petrol with pressurized air but 1st dry the bay with pressure air and then after spraying petrol also dry it with air....

as petrol get dry soon therefore it doesnt catch dust....

But dont know whether petrol will effect the shinness of the engine bay or not??? so its my idea as I am not an expert so wait what others says...

"wash with non pressurized water"... you mean to way wash with water.. its the same thing i want to avoid... running on patrol idea is logical though.

patrol is sprayed along with pressured air... there are no TWO steps... but i know its going to shine only when patrol is used... but then again, is it going to damage the electrical circuits and sensors or not?

I think I have heard some people washing it with petrol, means Petrol sprayed to your engine bay and then washed with detergants and then blow-dried, and leaving a perfect clean engine bay, as is done underneath the car, remember to use fresh clean petrol and not diesel or used oils.

This is only heard and not tested by self, so no gaurantee on it.

i dont get it, wat kind of sensors are we talking abt? I always clean my car (engine bay) with pressurized air,water and diesel appx every 5-7,000 km. No problems yet

i do the same with my carby cars, but not with efi...

never use petrol or diesel. yes use pressure pump. i clean accord and platz with tht and boy tht surely works and the bay is clean like before. just simple air.

i emptied a spray can of degeaser, left it on metal parts then washed it away after 15 mins

Washing engine with pressurised water for the last three years almost after a month or more, no problem and the engine bay is clean like new.

Never ever let it get dirty for long because dirt tends to cling if left in the bay. Once a month bath is must. BTW it is an EFI engine, no CNG.

i dont know about the locally assembeled cars but one thing is 4 sure, german automobiles manufacturers say not to wash engine bay the way it is pry1 practised here in all the pumps.especially bmw s and mercs have sophisticated mechanism under the hood so owners avoid washing the engine rather they clean it manually.But as said maybe sesnsors in cultus cud malfunction anytime.The manufacturers know better about the car they r producing better than anyone else.so id recommend just to use pressure air.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
whenever i used to wash my engine from any pump of my baleno there always use to occur a problem with my HID.One of the lights wud go off nd then i use to go to a mechanic everytime.But ive stopped washing the engine nd its been a while now that i havent met that mechanic.
He must be very sad.........

Hmmm.. I think I should then try pressurized air only but there can be one possibility. Only if we are able to locate the sensors and cover them with (air tight) nylon paper bag and then use petrol with pressurized air... i that a good idea? I know it would be risky...

Take it to any service guy and tell him to sray deisel in the engine bay and the car's under body. Dont think and do it nothing will happen as the deisel will clean the engine bay and under body and secondly it does not inter fear with electric circuits. I always use it for any car i have and nothing has happened yet. Instead its works good. Any odd engine noise or other squiks just go away.

sir ur right.i cleans the engine just perfect.but do u know something.its not good for the pipes.the rubber is of the pipes can just break causing a leakage and even overheating if not known.i used to spray diesel aswell but after knowing i dont apply it no more...
