Lahore City Traffic Police has released a small video to share the details about getting a driving license through Driving License Information Management System DLIMS Punjab and how many types there are of the license. In the small video, the police stated that the driving license is the only legal permit letter to drive a vehicle, and every citizen gets the license as per their need and owned vehicle.
Then the video shared the procedure to get a new driving license and its types and categories, including Learner, Private, LTV, and PSV. The video also tells which car the citizen can drive with a specific driving license.
Learning Permit from DLIMS Punjab
The first step to getting a driving license is Learning Permit, also called Learner. The vehicle owner can obtain this permit from the Driving License Authority before acquiring the driving license. To get the Learner, the person needs:
- Original CNIC
- Copy of CNIC
- Ticket
These are the ticket rates for different vehicles:

And these are instructions for the candidate for a Learner Driving Permit:
- Learner Driving Permit is useful for 6 months, while you can apply for a regular driving license after 42 days.
- You can renew the Learner Driving Permit after its expiration post 6 months and car drive following these instructions.
- Write the letter "L" on the front and back screen with red tape with a 4-inch height and 3.5-inch width.
- A licensed driver will sit in the passenger seat to stop the car in case of an emergency.
With the learner permit, the candidate will get traffic rules and regulations code book and the permit is essential for a driving license.
Private Driving License from DLIMS Punjab
The first type of license is Private Driving License, under which the candidate gets a motorbike and private car license. The candidate receives this license after passing the test of driving a bike and car.
These are the documents needed for a private driving license:
- Learner permit
- 1 photocopy of CNIC
- 2 passport-size photographs
- Submit Rs. 100 bank receipt in any HBL branch and attach this receipt with your file.
Following are the details of test fee and centers in Lahore:
LTV Private Driving License
With this Light Transport Vehicle (LTV) driving license, the candidate can drive all four-wheel vehicles, including a car, van, and jeep. Acquiring this license is the same as above.HTV Driving License
Then comes the Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) driving license, which allows the candidate to drive a truck, bus, crane, or other heavy-duty vehicle. However, to get an HTV license, the candidate's LTV license should be at least one year old.PSV Driving License
The last one is Public Service Vehicle (PSV) driving license, allowing the holder to drive passenger vehicles like wagons, coasters, and buses. The candidate can apply for a PSV license after three years of their HTV license. This license has two further types:

PSV LTV allows you to drive light passenger cars like wagons and Bolan etc.
