How to keep suspension of Suzuki Cultus (2006-2016) in good shape?

Hi,

How we can keep suspension of a car (especially Suzuki Cultus 2006-2016 model) in good shape? what are the major components/parts that need to be kept in good condition for a better and effective suspension?

Hi Usama,

Basically you will need to do the following:

1. Replace the bushings for front control arms with good quality ones.
2. Have the control arms (Chimtay) inspected for any wear on the ball joints, since the ball joints are not a separate component you'll have to replace the entire control arm if they cannot be repaired.
3. Have the front shocks inspected for any leaks, if leaking or loss of oil then replace, do not repair as it is not at all reliable.
4. Get the steering ends inspected, mostly they can be repaired but since they are relatively cheap you should replace them. Also the steering rack may be worn,this can also be repaired.
5. Coming to the rear end, you basically have bushing for the control arms. Usually these last the lifetime of the car if driven properly, but on Pakistan's roads they too can wear out quickly.
6. Have the rear shocks inspected and replaced if found to be leaking.
7. One major component are the wheel bearings, if the car making grinding noises which increases with the speed then mostly it indicates a worn out bearing. In this case have all four wheel bearings inspected.

1. Dont wash it with diesel
2. dont jack the car up (keep it on stock height)
3. dont change the springs
4. replace shocks with brand new parts from a reliable source , they go bad after 100k
5. keep an eye on boots of cv joints and ball joints
6. use proper grease for the job, in ball joints and cv joints
7. Don't use low profile tyres
8. Dont go offroading
9. If the bushings go bad, only use suzuki genuine ones or longman ones (from longman store at montgomery rd lahore)
10. Don't drive in deep water
11. Don't overload the car (springs will be fkd)
