How to make chinese door lock actuators/guns last longer

typical chinese door locks actuators dont have a long life.

here is a little tip to make them last longer.

have done this on my previous charade and current civic, the actuators have never gone bad.

never mind the very dirty door.

tools needed

hot melt glue gun
some silicone grease.
polythene bag / zip lock bag / any plastic bag

agreed if not protected like so these can go bad easily!

apply some silicone grease to the shaft, try squeezing some inside.

what i do is,

i poke a tiny hole in the polythene, and stick the actuator hole tip out of it.

then i apply the glue gun so that the actuator tip is stuck to the polythene making a water tight seal.

then wrap the polythene all around it and stick with the glue gun,

finally seal of the area where the wires are coming out.

dont have the picture of the actuator tip.

i have never had one of these guns short out or burn out.

they have broken or cracked though... no solution to that. but for the price its a no brainer, a genuine honda actuator is for more than Rs 3000.

while this 4 actuator set can be had for less than Rs 1000.
