Where exactly is this spot? Is it inside the passenger compartment or outside it, i.e. underneath the car? Could a lock here be broken, pried or could one cut it through a grinder. Please do enlighten us with your opinion.

I thought I was an expert until I read the posts on this thread which has revealed that I know nothing about security. A mechanic told me something and I will reveal it.

                                    I've not been able to get the picture which you have attached.  Is this the famous T of the steering column under the instrument panel on the driver's seat in the passenger's compartment?  Please elaborate.  I'm about to buy my new car and the very thought of getting my car stolen really worries me and sends chills down my spine.

There is no guarantee that car cant be stolen, even high end cars get stolen. No need to go into its bits.. If a mechanic know about that top of the line security feature. Rest assure the thief also know.. And he knows much better how to deal it.. Buy a car and get it insured. Even a tracking system cant save you 100%. I have 100% bumper to bumper insurance on my cars and I sleep tight without any worries.

it is place where one can not work easily dur to lack of space plus clutch pedal brake pedal and cant be broken without hammering and if they do hammering they will end up breaking steering column as it is mad up of cast iron i guess

Ok get this one. Cost about $100-150

The metal is very hard and no chance by simple saw. Some comes with an alarm with in hub cover which gets activated if its opened or cut. Again nothing can stop a thief but something can be done to delay his actions

More sophisticated of this thing is used by law enforcement as well if you have an unpaid tickets or any other violations and you are not responding to citations or court orders.

Once I read an interview of a car theif in a newspaper, who said that pretty much any car can be stolen unless u take out the engine. Lols.
