Hi ,I have toyota premio 2007 x (full option). This car is 4x4 , but I don't know how to enable that option.
Can someone tell me how to enable 4x4 option or if it automatically switch, what are these conditions ?
I Think You Don't Have To Enable It..... 4X4 Is Working All The Time...... Though I Am Not Sure.
It is not Awd but 4wd, it will drive as fwd and power will be sent to rear axle electronically when it will sense it needs extra traction.
please post a picture of Interior - shifter specifically. in few of Premios 4x4 (2007, 08 & 10) I come across there is a round button marked 4x4 under the hazard which enable/disable power to rear wheel. - also please check if the drive shaft to rear wheels is in place, just incase
thats' what an AWD is (without any separate shifter) - like Lincoln Mark X & Ford Explorer
yes correct i mixed it up... but most awd's have 50/50 torque split front-to-rear and is adjusted(40/60 etc) when needed by esp/ecu and in premio axio as per me the power is only sent to front wheels 100/0 and if needed its sent to rear wheels.. 80/20 though i am not sure will have to google.
It is AWD ; like Subaru (has symmetrical AWD), Audi Quattro, Mercedes 4-Matic or BMW X-drive. These systems are sometimes called full-time four-wheel drive. All-wheel-drive systems are designed to function on all types of surfaces, both on- and off-road, and most of them cannot be switched off. So basically its active all the time.

Thank you all for valuable input
Nice link but I think this explains the AWD/4WD systems of Other Toyota vehicles (SUVs) where engine is longitudionally placed. In Premio/AXIO etc the engine is radially placed so the concept is different. Correct me if im wrong.
May be fol pic of Celica depicts the same as that of AXIO/Premio
