Its 190 grams. And it feels very solid in hand due to reasonable weight and unibody design. However, it feels good in hand, but not bulky to me.

Fast charge vs large battery; why choose one, when Mate 9 gives you both.

The V20 has QHD, but looks wise I prefer Mate 9. V20 is hideous looking in my opinion.

Although as I have said before, looks are a subjective topic.

Case Carnage

I am usually not a fan of cases. And this complimentary case from Huawei is no exception.
So I today I took it off the mobile and tested its strength against elements.

Within 2 minutes, it got pretty heavily scratched. And pretty much ugly.

It is flimsy and slightly lose to cling on the mobile. However, it will surely protect the mobile from any damage, should it manage to stay on the mobile. I have a feeling, that with a strong fall, it may come off the mobile completely.

All in all, if you use cases for protecting your mobiles, you should get a better one. This one while looks fancy is very scratchy and easy to break.

Ex vs New One

This is always going to be an interesting one, measuring ex against the new one.
I was using Sony Xperia Z3 Dual (D6633) prior to the Huawei Mate 9.
Sony makes very beautiful pieces of art, which are beautiful to look at and smart to carry in your hand.

The Xperia Z3 was holding 5.2 HD inches, while the Huawei Mate 9 sports 5.96 inches.

I had cracked the glass rear end of the Xperia Z3 for the second time recently. so decided to upgrade rather than replace it again.

Needless to say Sony has stood the test of time, and still looks pretty.

Yesterday I went to get a case for the Mate 9. So here are the pictures of my purchase.

Huawei Mate 9: Car Case

The case is officially labelled as Car Case on its packaging. Although I am not too sure why, as it is a generic design case.

Notice that it is very minimalistic design and does not get in your way at all.
All buttons, speakers, mic, IR blaster, camera and USB port are totally accessible.

It is nicely textured, and feels like very soft rubber.

The Cut Outs

The cut outs for the Fingerprint sensor, the Leica Dual Camera Lenses, LED, Depth Sensor and (tiny) Mic at the top are so accurate and cut to measure. This can only be said about the quality cases.

The Mate 9 definitely punches above its price category, both in performance and looks category.

Since it is my first Huawei, my only concern is software updates going forward. However, worst case scenario, I can always go the root and flash custom firmware route. Xda-Dev is already building a large repository for it.

Btw, you can disable this watermark from camera settings if you want, I find it very annoying, Its too big in size.

I didnt get annoyed by it yet.

When I do get annoyed, I will disable it. There is a mod somewhere on xda, to replace it with a different watermark. People put their personal branding usually.

Loving the big display, speed and great battery.
Charging the phone every other day, as it goes 2 days with about 8 hour screen on time.

Please dont tell me you are really able to get 8 hours of SOT. As I tried it and failed it... My SOT is around 4 hours... With 30% battery remaining befoe bed time every day.

Would be nice to see your mobile signal strength.

I got to find out that my battery life is suffering due to weak mobile signal at my office. A good signal would increase its battery life considerably.
